I am so impressed with your thought process. I've always purged regularly but I know there are things in my closet of which your questions should be asked... Or maybe I should say TO which I ask "what are you doing for me?"

Go Team Edit! I loved your questions and can totally relate to the "not so great color, but good silhouette" and the danger of buying things in the wrong color because it "goes" with something you're trying to make work. Another problem I have is with "bossy" colors that start to take over the closet.

I also like to ask my questionable pieces if they are taking me "backward" or "forward" in my style. I might leave my comfort zone for something I feel is propelling me forward, but if I feel that niggling doubt that something is a little bit dated, frumpy, or just plain cheap-looking, I try to listen to my gut and get rid of it. Keep up the good work!

Wow! This is some great motivation to get my behind into gear!

I always ask one more question, inspired by Thistle: Is this item at least a 9 out of 10? For happiness, and also for condition. That weeded out a few worn/faded pieces.

This is inspiring - these are the questions that have to be considered! There is no question I enjoy creating ensembles when there is less clutter in the closet. Also I am far more efficient. Off to bedroom to purge!

I have been doing a major wardrobe edit and having the most success ever, even though I've been through the process many times before.

I'm getting rid of a lot of stuff, sure, bout it's not the volume-- it's that the reasons make more sense. Both tossing and keeping
Fit is king, but not enough. Proportion
is a big yes/ no Question as I'm trying on things together. If a combo seems to be duplicated("uniforms") I'm asking, are they all great? Which ones

are there just because its a option and not because us fab ?, I'm also weeding out colors but with some wiggle room-- if I like it.
I ask myself what or how is this item "driving " style or choices. Color for
example could be style- neutral-- everything goes with black!- or it may
see it driving me toward more of the same wrong color in order to match. Skirts or dresses or pants may be driving me toward a shoe style I do or
do not want more of. Or an item may
not be in my key color but it is keeping me for now in a silhouette that is where I want to go. That sort of thing. And of course, the old favorites that I
thought I should keep forever, I am letting go of some.

I don't think I've evolved to the totally ruthless stage, and still have some things in the "maybe" closet. Plus I
fully expect some of the things I'm keeping may need more weeding out, as I keep wearing and asking, does this really belong?

Still, this winnowing has made more
sense to me than before, and i owe so much of that to YLF
