My 17 year old son is a big fan of Ghost vegan protein powders. After a long struggle and lots of wasted product we were very glad to find something with a taste he could tolerate. He says GHOST doesn't have any of the 'weird' aftertaste that most vegan protein powders have. He has tried both the pancake batter and PB cereal milk flavors and likes them equally. It is available at GNC in the US.

Thanks! Well, glad to know it's not just me on the Vega. Won't repurchase that.

And yes, I make smoothies in a Vitamix...overkill but that's what I have. They definitely get mega-blended.

I'm allergic to milk protein, that's why whey is out.

Yes, sadly the GNC is whey-based, but if you're not allergic nor sensitive to whey, then it's great. I always use a blender for these - never could figure out how those shaker bottles would possibly get rid of the lumps.

Yes to the blender! I use whey from Trader Joes, but I used to use their soy protien powder and liked it. There's no artificial sweeteners like many have.

Random thing re protein powders in general: if it tends to clump with just stirring/shaking, sometimes you can put it in the blender and get a better result.

I don't have any vegan-specific recommendations, sorry. iHerb(.com) carries a lot of that sort of thing and might have some good reviews, though.

GNC Pro. And yeah, I did hear that GNC is under creditor protection in the US . No idea what that will mean for its future.

I have the same experience with Vega One powders. Our collection is in a bin that is too high for me to reach without a ladder - sigh - so I'll have to check which one I'm using now. I have an "expert" in DD so buy what she recommends. I'll get back to you later

I'm looking for a good tasting...or at least no tasting...protein powder for smoothies. It doesn't have to be vegan really, just no dairy and that usually works out to be vegan when whey is off the table.

I've tried two so far and not been thrilled with either. The first was Garden of Life Raw Organic Meal. I was fine with that one for awhile but either they changed the formula or I just started noticing it too much...the smell and taste became overwhelming.

Now I'm using Vega One Organic All In One Shake. One tablespoon is okay but not great, but the amount they say put in using their scoop is a deal breaker. Even with one tablespoon there is some kind of weird thickening effect and I notice it bubbles up if I don't drink it right away. And that one tablespoon is probably pointless...if the scoop is 20 grams of protein my one tablespoon is probably 3 grams.

I hope someone has a great one! Tell me what to buy.
