This is a fascinating discussion, but most of it is very foreign to me. Where can I read more about diamonds?

I have .75 ct. equivalent Moissanite studs and I love them -- they feel huge to me, but not so huge that they are obviously fake diamonds. So if the budget allows, I think .75 each(1.5 TW) is perfect!

I have .5 ct studs and have over the years wished they were bigger. But ya get what ya get and I find them to be great for low-key day wear.

I would also love a teeny pair too!

Glory, check out this site to get an idea of sixe and shapes. I have ordered colored gem stones from them and they are great to work with. I was able to get the stones for a better price than my jeweler can wholesale. My stones were exactly as advertised when I had them valued.

Square diamond earrings look fresh and stylish to my eye. I wear them more often than round diamonds because they just seem to go effortlessly with anything from jeans to dressy outfits. Give them a try :)

This very much depends on your taste. I know people who find .25 ct each a great everyday size, while others prefer more than 1 ct per ear. Personally, I wear .5 ct per ear and I feel that's a good everyday size for me. Then again, I wouldn't mind going bigger! Stop by a local jeweler and hold different sizes up to see what look you like. Shrinkage is real, and can happen faster than you think, though.

Consider the setting, too. Some people like bezel set for everyday wear, while others prefer a 4 prong. I like a martini setting, and I prefer them in a white metal, even though I mostly wear yellow gold. With a white setting, it blends in with the diamonds and all you see is sparkle.

As for cut, I always prefer round for earrings. With any other cut, they can become twisted and look off-kilter. Additionally, an excellent cut in a round stone hides a multitude of sins and can make H or I stones look white (especially in earrings, I wouldn't pay the premium for colourless stones). Cut is absolutely the most important factor with any diamond. With round stones you can plug their angles into the HCA (Holloway Cut Adviser) to help determine if you are getting an ideally cut stone. Sometimes GIA excellent isn't quite as great as it could be. And I respectfully disagree about going shallow with a wide spread. More sparkle from an ideally cut stone will make stones appear bigger than their mm size alone.

Brilliant, round cut. Quality isn't as important in the ears since no one grabs your earlobe for a closer look like they do with a ring finger. Go for a big spread with a shallow cut. You'll get much more bang for the buck. How big you go depends on your budget. Go to a diamond merchant rather than a jewelry store. You'll learn much more about your diamonds, be able to select exactly what you want, get a much better price (no middle man), and get to either pick or design the setting you want. White gold is typical and lends a bit of visual volume to the diamond (much more so than yellow gold). You can do a bezel set if you want even more visual volume. Can't wait to see what you get!

Hi all, I am thinking of asking for a pair of diamond studs for an upcoming anniversary - 28 years!
I want them for everyday use. Is there a cut and size that is preferred/more classic?
Hoping for some guidance. Thanks.
