Thanks! I hadn't even thought of the chance of rain! You'd think that would've crossed my mind given that I live on the West Coast. Either gumboots or my hikers should fit the bill. We'll be traveling with a baby and young child, so no big hiking excursions for us this time around. I'm thinking of picking up a pair of TOMS for the ship anyway.

Packing for a week is more of a challenge than I thought it would be. I tend to pack too much, so I'm trying really, really hard to whittle my list down. There's laundry onboard, so I could wash some items. Here's my list (so far):

Pants:
boot cut jeans (x2?)
red straight leg jeans
olive green esprit chinos (?)

Sweaters/jackets:
grey cardigan
shrunken navy blue blazer
rain jacket

Tops:
white/navy striped tee
knit grey nursing top (tunic length)
black nursing tee
knit black old navy tunic
long sleeve hot pink knit shirt
white shirt tunic

Accessories:
pink scarf
navy blue scarf
sunglasses
hoop earrings
necklace/bracelet (?)

Shoes:
nude/brown wedges (dinner wear...should maybe switch to black pumps?)
gumboots or hiking boots
casual flats (TOMS?)

One dress (dinner wear)

What will you be doing besides the cruise? My initial thoughts are: waterproof, grippy soles, and durable. I'd look at Merrell, Jambu and Keens for ideas. Toms are okay but the chances you will see rain are high.

We leave next week and I need to buy a comfy pair of shoes (not flip flops) that can pull their weight both on the ship and on our daily trips on land. I'll be packing a pair of formal shoes for the one nice dinner my husband and I have planned without the kids.

I've been going back and forth between dark grey TOMS and leather moccasins:

Any thoughts?
