LBD, the Foot Petals don't take up much room at all, and don't change the fit. They just add cushioning and keep your feet from sliding down in the shoe.

Please be careful with any gel/silicon adhesive ball-of-foot cushions. They can become very slippery if they become wet from sweat or rain. This can lead tripping, falls, or abrasions of the toes. Try and stick with more of a non-gel adhesive pad to cushion the ball of the foot in heels. The memory foam Stiletto hardware product looks pretty good for this.

@Parsley - how much room do Foot Petals take up in your shoe? Enough to change the size? I see Foot Petals getting a lot of mention and love on assorted fashion blogger sites, so I think I may try them out.

I bought some Dr. Scholl's gel inserts that line the entire shoe, but they were too thick, and made my pumps too shallow, so that they didn't feel secure on my foot. Soft and cushiony though! I have set them aside to use in the future, probably in a pair of booties that are a little loose..

I've tried Dr. Scholls for Her high heel inserts. They seem to really help with the diminishing fat pads in my feet.

You can try Stiletto Hardware's ball-of-foot cushions:

http://www.stilettohardware.com/bof_slender.html

This is the Ultra-Slender version, which I think is what you would want for pointy-toes.

I have these but don't know how good they are. I just bought a bunch of stuff like this in the fall, and then the weather turned too cold to wear heels anyway. You can get them on Amazon too.

Foot Petals "Tip Toes" are good. I don't think I've tried any others.
