For example, an acquaintance at church came up to me to say that she saw me watching the choir during service and just had to come tell me how beautiful I was and how lucky DH is to have me. (I don't think I've ever gotten a compliment like that other than from a BF/DH ~ it must have been the NAS Chanel-esque jacket I was wearing!) </p> <p>Then today, my 9-yo DD started talking to me about different styles. In her world, there is "girly girl," "princess-y," "tomboy," "wild tomboy" and a few others. She told me she's a wild tomboy because she prefers pants to dresses [Angie, if you read this, it's just a phase! She refused to wear anything but dresses and skirts for three full years!] and because she likes animals and nature. In her eyes, style is a combination of personality and appearance (thoughtful girl).</p> <p>DD asked me what my style was, and I turned the question back to her: "What do *you* think my style is?" She thought for a bit, then said, "You are Cool Rocker Mom, that's your style." And that's it ~ that's the best darned compliment I've ever gotten. I am sooo not cool and sooo far from having any rocker vibe, so it could be I'm trying too hard with my outfits and somehow channeling Rock Star Wannabe, but hey, I love that in DD's eyes, I am Cool Rocker Mom now. </p> <p>This made me think of Angie's blog post about which compliments mean the most to us: <a href="http://youlookfab.com/2010/10/15/some-style-compliments-mean-more-than-others/" rel="nofollow">http://youlookfab.com/2010/10/.....an-others/</a></p> <p>I have to say, this compliment from DD is one I will carry in my heart for a long time. :)</p> <p>It also made me wonder if anyone else has gotten feedback on our personal style from friends or family that is very different from how we describe our style ourselves? </p>
