Kellygirl I found the punch at Michael's in the leather crafting section. There are different size tips you can buy. I have not tried it yet, but it seems like a no brainer.
I too have a collection of skinny belts now that get little wear (at the time), but I'm keeping them on standby.

Angie, you need to go up a size if your hips are slim. For us curvy hourglasses and pears it is more like 2 sizes up!
Yes, I had to buy all new belts for my BF jeans / slouchy trousers and they will not work for waist even with the right holes because the end is too long. Anyway mu waist belts do not see the light of day very often these days, it is all about trousers now!

I know, I positively squee when I find a belt with notches all the way around.
@Jj: Where does one find a leather punch? Do you have different sizes? That's a great idea for the longer belts that I have. Brilliant! Of course, it won't help for the ones that are too short. I bought the CK one in white too because now I'm finding many of my belts too skinny. Arrgh! If not one thing, then another!

I have 2 collections of belts because I size up for BF belts, mostly thicker ones. I just bought the Calvin in white and navy that Angie posted about and found the same belt in orange and black. I'm a bit overstocked now. I also bought a leather punch so I can add a hole or two if I need to.

I don't wear BF's (yet anyway) but have the same problem with just trying to accommodate different pants/jeans/skirts etc....I love finding belts with holes or notches all the way around, or that are adjustable IYKWIM and snatch those up when I find them. Dressing right gets complicated sometimes!

Thanks for the sympathy Glad to hear that I'm not alone. It's kind of frustrating though--I have some nice belts that just don't fit with my current favorite bottoms.

Yes, I had to buy all new belts for my BFs. There is a huge difference between my natural waist and my high hip so I have three kinds of belts - waist ones for dresses and stuff (not worn much these days), ones for my higher rise pants, and ones for low rise pants. I think I should probably do a belt cull sometime soon.
Oh absolutely, Kelly, my shorter belts don't work for BF jeans and low-slung trousers either. I don't have too many belts to begin with, and I plan on keeping all the ones that I love (to Angie's point, good belts are hard to find).

I blogged about that on the belt post last week :). YES! You often need to go up a size to fit belts onto BF jeans that sit on your hips.

I'd keep a great belt no matter where it fits - hips or waist. They are hard to find .
I am getting rid of some of my older belts that don't fit into my current wardrobe style. The belts I am taking to the Goodwill though have multiple strikes against them (sizing, but also ugliness and frumpiness). They are fails all the way around.

Is it just me or do you need to buy longer belts for the lower rise BF jeans? I feel like a belt junkie because I've got so many these days. The ones that fit around my "waist" are too short for any of my lower rise pants/jeans/shorts. Do you keep or cull? I guess the good thing is they don't take up too much space, but still I'm wondering if I will be needing these in my fashion future.
