Thank you Gigi and Dixie! I really appreciate your thoughts! However, the link doesn't work somehow, I just come to the main page! But is it something like this that you mean? http://www.anthropologie.eu/an.....olor=021#/ (if this one works..!)

I like them. You're missing a black belt, don't you think?
You could go to a store and try wider belts to see how they look. And you can show us before you buy them for a second opinion :)

I have a short waist and super wide belts don't look that good. I'm guessing you have a short waist too. I like Gigi's suggestion.

What I meant about a belt designed for dresses is something like this:

http://www.anthropologie.com/a.....5176.jsp#/

It's quite wide and has more design elements (especially at the buckle) than a regular belt. You wouldn't wear it in belt loops but would wear it over the top of a skirt or dress. Hope that clears things up!

Thank you all. Appreciate your comments! I've never really grasped how to see whether I'm long or short waisted, but I'm guessing short?

Good idea unfrumped to match the white belt with the white top. I like the look of a contrasting belt, but I'll try it with the white and see how it looks!

Thank you Gigi! Not entirely sure what you mean with a belt designed for dresses... I'll keep a lookout when I go shopping next!

I tried the belt with a black, casual dress (new post), and I liked it, so I've removed the tags and will keep the belts! But I'll keep looking for other belts that might work.

My rule of thumb is that if I am putting the belt right over the junction of top and skirt, I use a wide belt, like maybe 1.5 inches. I use the type of belt that would be designed for wearing over a dress or something and not the type of belt that would go through belt loops, if that makes any sense. The type of belt I'm thinking of is usually fancier.

I use skinny belts if I have something that is relatively high waisted, in which case the skinny belt hits a little below the top of the skirt. I use a width similar to what you show here.

Maybe you would want to experiment with some of the fancier belts that are designed to be worn over dresses and such? As some of the other commenters mentioned, being short waisted might make a difference as to what looks best. I am short waisted but have never tried wearing a thick belt with a short skirt; I have always used them with longer skirts (well below the knee).

I also like #2 especially and like the warm leather tones there.
I think skinny belt is good, rather than wider.
Also, if you are shorter-waisted, you might try the white belt with the white top. I often do the opposite, try to match my belt more to the skirt or pants to move the waist up, since I am long-torsoed. It is not an exact science, so depends on the outfit, colors, style and also what looks fun! But sometimes there is a reason why one works better.

Thanks so much Dee! Actually, I have a black dress that I normally wear with a (wider) belt, but I'll try tomorrow with this one and see if it might work! Even if it's a dress.

They both look cute but I have a slight preference for outfit 2. I like the pops of color from the shirt and boots!

I think the short belt works well. A belt in a fun color might also be a fun option. Thick belts work better if you are long-waisted and/or over dresses, in my opinion.

A while ago I got the suggestion to try a belt with my outfit tucked top+black skirt. I really liked the idea and finally made the purchase. Was happy to get three belts in one pack for a cheap price. But wonder if I should have a wider belt instead?

Tried it on with two of my favourite tops with this skirt, one with polka dots (full length in #1 and close up in #2), and one with prints/floral (full body in 3, close up in 4), and then a pic of all three belts.

What are your thoughts? All ideas are much appreciated!

(Sorry, not great pics)
