I'm not a fan of boyfriend jeans so I purchased relaxed skinny jeans instead. They were looser than my skinnies but more fitted in the waist band. I believe Paige Denim makes some.

It's hard to imagine jeans that scrunch at the waist working with anything but a high rise like the paperbag waists of the eighties.

And it doesn't seem very appealing to wear because it's bulky and too high maintenance with all the adjusting.

if the waist bothers you, get it taken in....i have almost all my pants taken in at the waist. wear the jeans so that they are stretch out and ask the tailor to take in the waist only...leave the hips etc. make sure that you are wearing the jeans where you want them to sit when you have them pinned.

I don't have any suggestions. I have problems with BF jeans. I love the look, they are perfect for my personal style, but to get a loose thigh fit I have to size up so much that I feel like I need take the jeans to the tailor to remove excess fabric (the bunching). I have yet to find a cut that is wide enough in the upper leg and booty area to fit like they do on models (which shouldn't be that hard-- I'm curvy, but not that curvy and tall/well proportioned).

I personally don't love the look of a scrunched up waistband but I also like my BF jeans to sit very low on the waist. So I pull them down to a point where there is no scrunching at all. If they dropped a little bit I wouldn't mind (I have a 13" difference between waist and hips so it's not like they're going to fall off). My waistbands don't stretch though - they stretch in the hips and thighs some but not on the waistband at all as far as I can tell. I think it's bc the waistbands start out so large that there's little stress on the fabric there anyway.

How do your BF jeans fit around the waist? I bought a pair of Banana Republic jeans back in the winter. While they fit perfectly fresh out of the laundry, within a few hours, they stretch out a size to the extent that the material under the belt is bunched up. I thought this was an issue until I read Angie's post from 2012, where she mentioned that they ought to scrunch up.

Recently, I've tried the 7FAM Josphenia's, which fit like cuffed skinny jeans, not the look I was seeking;
DL1961's Riley jeans, which were huge at the waist and had too low a rise;
and C/E's Fling jeans, which are also huge at the waist, but have a higher rise.

Because of my hips/thighs, I don't have the option of sizing down, and I don't like purchasing pants that are too tight from the outset.

Is there are a point at which the bunching looks like you're wearing ill-fitting clothing vs sporting a particular style? I love the way the Rag and Bone Dre jeans look on the model, where they seem to fit at the hip, and just fall straight through, but that's probably due to different body types and strategic pinning.
