I think a floral belt with a solid outfit would look cool and very current. It is the kind of thing that depending on the print would date quite quickly, though, so it's not something I would spend $$ on myself.

I have a couple of Paul Smith items, shoes and scarf. I never had any post purchase regrets. If you do not have a black belt probably get one of those as well. I agree that quality is worth it here.

Thank you all for your great advice!

Lyn*, the belt is by Paul Smith so it wouldn't DEF be a splurge but I'm a huge stickler about quality with any leather goods. A belt is an item the cost per wear will get low on especially as I don't own any right now.

Sveta and Day Vies, I almost only wear solid tops. I have two print shirts both of which and very clean, geometric patterns in white, black and grey so I think they'd look nice with the belt.

Go for it! I too am on team low contrast but I love the floral belt, it's a great way to experiment with the floral trend AND more contrast at the same time. If you are concerned the belt slices you in half (that's often my visual concern), you could try a semi tuck so just 1/3 or 1/2 of the belt shows. The semi tuck is better at preserving a column of color look.

Yes, yes, yes to #3! Also, a leopard belt would be a nice neutral. If your bottoms are for ultra conservative corporate work wear, I would also suggest black in a reptile texture. FWIW, I have mostly dark bottoms and due to short legs would not want a high contrast belt, but I find that I rarely wear my black ones.
3 is definitely lovely. I love pansy flowers and the subtle dark shades would probably work well with your low contrast colour columns.

Absolutely #3 is a great choice. It can be limiting like Sveta said but then I am sure you are going to have more than one belt. I love patterned belts and the first person I saw make a compelling display of a patterned belt is Angie. ( See some of her old outfit posts from last summer.) I lean towards belts that are solid bright colors (fearful of pattern and trying to break the habit).
Patterned belts do add interest but they also can be limiting to what you can wear them with. It all depends on your current tops: if they are mostly solid than this belt would work great. It can also play well with simple geometric patterns as well. Have fun!

Pic 3 is a great way to introduce patterns and color into your outfit! I would wear it with cream color jeans, too! Nice selection.
BTW...I LOVE pansies.(or at least, they kinda look like the ones in my yard)

I think #3 would be a lovely way to add visual interest! I don't think they go too far beyond your low-contrast/column of colour team, because there are tons of colours that you can pick out from the pretty pattern. It would look absolutely divine with navy, grey and dark green...

... actually, do you mind sharing the source? I kinda want one :p

I need a belt for functional reasons ( avoid saggy butt) and because I'm drawn to photos of women wearing them casually as they seem to help finish an outfit.

I'm on team low-contrast/column of color so my instinct is to get a black belt because I all my bottoms are black and dark blue #1

But I also wonder if it wouldn't be nice and add some visual interest to have a still low but slightly higher contrast belt #3

I also have wondered if this isn't an opportunity to introduce an interesting but low contrast pattern into my mix. I love this dark floral and think it would tie in the other colors I wear (navy, grey, dark green mostly) #3

Your thoughts?
Thanks!
