You are discerning, not picky. When you find something that bothers you it is best to not buy it, as you did.
Now you gave me something more to be discerning about when I shop :-).

Thanks for all the replies, ladies.

Lisa yes it occurred to me that it could be an irregular and that's why it was as TJMaxx. They used to have the word "irregular" on their price tags but I've noticed they don't seem to do it anymore. Certainly could be the explanation.

I'm really picky about things like this- especially on expensive t-shirts!

Oh, this drive me crazy too. The t shirt was cut out of the fabric that didn't have the grain trued on it. You'd definitely get a twisty top after first wash.

It drives me crazy when t-shirts twist so I think you were right to leave it. Plus, once you see a design flaw, you can't unsee it.

Pass, twisty T shirts drive me crazy as do patterns that don't line up.

That might be why it was in TJMaxx to begin with? But yes, I'd pass too - first wash and I bet it twists.

I do not think you are being too picky, I notice things like this on everything. And whether or not it is an intentional design detail, if I don't like it, or find it odd I just pass. Happens at all price points.

No, I'm with you! I saw this over the weekend when I looked at some tees in Madewell, and it disappointed me. Whenever I've bought one of these bias tees, they twist after they're washed and it drives me nuts. Whenever I see one of those in the store now, I leave it behind, even if everything else about it appeals to me.

I've had that happen particularly with cheap t-shirts from Target. I guess it doesn't bother me because I haven't paid a lot but it would in one that was supposed to be high quality. I had one from TJ Maxx that wasn't noticeable until after washing and I couldn't wear it at all because it pulled so bad. You were probably right to pass.

I tried on this top yesterday. I liked the fit and the shape and was hemming and hawing over the color on me when I noticed something that did not seem quite right.

The "stripe" effect, which was not really stripes but more of a texture, was not truly horizontal, but at more of an angle even more than shown in the picture. The back of the top was fine, it was the front that was off. This seemed to me an indication of less-than-careful cutting of the pattern pieces on the fabric, and I suspect it could lead to that dreaded twisting of the side seams after the first washing. I knew it would drive me crazy every time I put it on so I passed.

I see this sort of thing often in tshirts, although I was surprised to see it in a brand like Vince.

What do you all think? Am I being too picky? Do you notice things like this on lightweight Ts?
