I love them on you. I wouldn't be concerned about the leg shortening effect of the lighter color; they are very cool. Please get the smaller size!

I like them. I just bought cutout combat boots myself, in black, and am looking forward to wearing them. I love your inspiration look with the scrunchy socks!

The color reminds me a bit of my taupe boots, which Angie and others here always love on me. Yes, with dark pants they can be a little leg shortening but for me the fact that they can bookend lighter tops ales up for that. Because I prefer darker bottoms and have dark hair, light tops don't work so well without some light footwear to bookend. And on bare legs the taupe can function as a quasi-nude.

@Suz & Ceit - I'd say they are at least a half size and probably a full size too big. Both my other pairs of flat boots (from other brands) are a size smaller than my usual, so perhaps it is a quirk of mine that I require flat boots to fit super snugly...

Ooh - I actually love them, Emily!! I know I'm biased because they would bookend my hair, but I think they're super fun. If you have a need for a lighter weight boot and the price is right, why not give them a bash? They'd be great with lighter tops and toppers, as in your inspirations.

Do you find them to run large then?

@Rabbit, I hear you re: the not bookending! I think with a skirt or dress they might work as a nude shoe, but with jeans I had accepted that they didn't extend the leg line.

@mreseccentric: They are "Gatson" by Circus Sam Edelman: http://www.zappos.com/circus-by-sam-edelman-gatson available lots of places I'm not sure how well they go with my current/aspirational style either, to be honest! I had chosen "rogue" as one of my style adjectives and they definitely fit there.

Link to shoes please! i'm drooling all over myself, so pry not the best 'objective' opinion, but i'd completely go for it myself.

Bearing that in mind, i think they look super cute on you, i also like that you can fold them over for some variety. Don't know how much they go with your current/aspirational style, if they do then you've lucked out! Good luck! steph

I really like how the cut-out is done on those. I think they look cute on you, especially with the rolled hems and the boot laced up. I've eyed several taupe/light booties myself and what has stopped me so far is that they don't bookend my dark hair, and unless I'm wearing tan/taupe pants or leggings, they don't extend the leg line like darker shoes do with dark jeans.

I felt they were stumpifying on me compared to darker colored boots when I tried them on in stores, in a way that didn't happen with a light colored oxford or sneaker. I think one way around that might be to go as high-waisted/long legged as possible with them (as in the leggings/sweater look you pinned) or have a bit of heel (as the other two jeans pins seem to have). Or just wear tonally similar pants. Or just rock it, it's a little retro/indy and for the right pair of pale booties, I definitely will too :)

This pair of boots has to go back regardless because they are a full size too big all over (length and shaft circumfrence). Is it worth trying a smaller size? I think they are super cool in theory but am not convinced they are a good look for me IRL. #9-10 are inspirational outfit pins.

ETA: I tried a size down, but the fit is just not quite right. The back of my heels slips when i walk but the instep is snug. Returning again :(
