Lynne, your pun made me giggle. Hehe, good thing I'm sitting in the corner of the room today.

For those of you in the Seattle area who are looking for something similar or want an assistant who is incredibly helpful/knowledgeable about products, I received STELLAR assistance from Hunter at Market Optical.

The bronze pair is my alternate "bedtime" pair. I've realized over time that they are just not my style for daytime - I like the bronze color but not the "bling" at the corners. Also, they are really too small to be comfortable on my face. I don't notice it when I first put them on, so they are fine for reading before bedtime, but when I wear them all day my temples start to ache from the pressure. The're a lot heavier than my new titanium pair, too.

Kari, you are beautiful in both; the first echo your lovely hair and the warmth in your colouring, the second echo your spectacular (hee hee) eye colour. Beautiful, times two. Your optical dispenser has done a wonderful job; adjusting Titanium frames can be really tricky as the material is SO strong. Tell everyone where to find him :).

If your prescription hasn't changed significantly, your bronze pair will be a great spare/alternative pair.

A very belated thank you for all of the compliments. I'm still loving my new specs and am wearing them today. The comfort factor is out of this world! An additional bonus - the weekend before last, while I was out with my family, a woman I didn't know approached me and asked me if I could let her know where to find these glasses because she loved the way that they looked on me. As much as I value compliments from people I know, when a stranger feels compelled to pass on a compliment, that makes me feel extra happy when I'm wearing the item in question.

Carole, I went to a specialty eyewear store and actually had a lot of help from the sales clerk. I showed him my prescription and told him what some of my fit challenges were, and he knew exactly which pairs I should and shouldn't try out. After I settled on these as my favorite, I had to think about it for a few weeks and kept returning to try them out. He remembered me and my favorite frames every time I stopped in the store, even after just one visit.

Astrid, I'd recommend giving titanium frames a try just as an experiment next time you shop for frames. One warning, though - they're pricey!

The new frames are absolutely perfect! I had the same problems with nose pads before, your new specs made me think to try a metall frame again in two years or so.

To follow up on the Before & After Challenge thread as well as Angie's guest post on Corporette, here's my attempt to illustrate my grasp of Angie's tips on finding stylish glasses frames, as seen through my "before and after" versions of bronze, rectangular metal frames:

#1-2: The "before" specs: Bronze metal frames purchased pre-YLF and photographed here shortly after I joined the forum. Bronze, rectangular, little diamonds at the temple, a small texturized design on the sidearms.
#3-4: The "after" specs: Titanium frames purchased just last week. A sort of green-ish bronze color with a bright, light green inner color. There is a cutout detail on the sidearms.

Now, the "before" pair weren't awful, but they weren't fantastic or "killer" either. They were a bit narrow for my face, and a bit too squared off for my eyebrow shape. They don't totally "droop" at the cheekbone, exactly, but they don't really "lift" my face, either. I realized after I'd had these for a year that I'm not really a "blingy" girl - diamonds/sparkle just isn't me. Also, the frames just seemed to blend in. I rather like my eyes, and I prefer them to be a focal point when I'm wearing specs, and these glasses just didn't do it.
Additionally, the frames were rather heavy, and the nose pads pinched. After purchasing these glasses several years ago, I've stuck to plastic frames only.

...that is, until this month, when I tried the titanium frames pictured in #3-4 (Orgreen Pussycat). They are super light-weight. The nose pads were adjusted perfectly by the optical sales assistant, and cause no discomfort. They are wide enough to suit both my enormous "temples of doom" as well as my pupillary distance. The cutout detail at an angle on the sidearms sweeps upwards toward my cheekbone, and the curve of the top of the frame follows my eyebrow arch better than my older pair. The contrasting lighter, inner color brings more light and attention towards my eyes, and also creates greater contrast between my eye color and the glasses frames - they don't blend into my face, but rather are a standout (and a nice contrast to the red hair.) Plus, I think it's just wicked cool that the lens "floats" at the side of the frame.

So... to make a long story short, I'm a titanium spectacle convert. Total surprise!

(Gah! I didn't realize this turned into such a ridiculously long post. Sorry!)
