Sometimes I do feel sad. Actually, sometimes I have to take a piece home for a while before I can sell it LOL

bj, pricing is tricky. Honestly, if I tried to figure it out to a decent hourly wage, I wouldn't be able to sell. I have the luxury of working when I want, a little at a time as my back can handle, and from home with the help of my kids, so I just consider how much money I have put into the piece and how much I think I can sell it for, depending on the market.

khris, how do you decide pricing?

i find that underpricing one's labor is common.

You are indeed very clever Khris, I love the decoupage dresser with the dictionary pages! They sound like labours of love. I wouldn't have a clue where to begin. I guess you must do a fair bit of research too.
I hope your business flourishes

Thanks!
How long a piece takes really depends on what repair or prep work the piece needs, what else I have going on (how much time I can devote solely to that project) and also how much help I need from the kids if I can't move it myself. Usually it's a couple of days to a week, since it's a multi-step process (sanding, painting several coats, then ageing, curing and putting it all back together) Pieces that have a more labor intensive process, like this dresser that has decoupaged dictionary pages on the front take even longer.

Oh, thanks! It's lovely to see your handy-work. What a lovely piece. How long would something like that take? It looks quite labour intensive. It looks a little French maybe?
I'm glad your antiques business is taking off, you must feel proud of yourself. Thank you for sharing

Here is the grey dresser that I just finished Before and After. I really like the way that it came out (although I wish it was a better After shot), and this is a rare instance that I remembered a Before shot!
