I think i'm going to have to go with the little cardigan, there isn't anything else. However I could always add that blazer over the top when or if it gets further reduced. Its about $1500 about now, I kind of hope it turns up on the outnet or something.

You look great in this birthday outfit and for a topper, wearing something with some structure would be a nice contrast to the drape, the blazer you have selected is stunning. I hope you get the bag as your birthday gift!

Jenni, I have a long open one that doesn't quite look right, it makes me look really wide as my waist is hidden, so I think a cropped one with show the waist definition. The round neck is the problem, so far I haven't managed to find a v neck cropped in navy.

My problem is my taste doesn't always match my body. I like really simple classic clothes yet they always look boring and often make me look frumpy. I also like this kind of style, a bit edgy that does work well but I always end up with an eclectic wardrobe, so i'm still considering what I should do going forward. I really want a cohesive wardrobe... But i'm finding it hard...anyway i'm sure i'll be building this wardrobe up for years I did find a couple of pieces I love the look of so keeping an eye to see if they go on sale in my size. One of them already went on sale and ran out but my size is still available on a reseller (however at full price). I can't afford the full price but if it reaches 50% off I think I can stretch to it. I think I'll get the shorts at full price if it looks like they won't go on sale.

It's a great outfit! I agree with Irina's suggestions about a topper. I am very sorry to hear about your stress re. your spouse and vaccinations--yikes, that would be hard to cope with.

You look stunning! It’s nice to see you again, I had wondered what had happened to you. I realise you have quite specific taste and requirements. I like the suggested toppers, personally I like both but prefer the little cardigan. I wonder if it will sit well unbuttoned with the cowl neck though? A soft one with an open front may be better if available.

Yes, especially for evening wear, I seem to need rather dramatic, unique shapes otherwise I find i look frumpy and/or boring.

I think these dramatic/asymmetric shapes look good on you.

Since the top is VERY drape-y (as opposed to slightly drape-y), I don't think you should add drape to drape, but maybe try something very structured like a moto jacket. Or a very structured blazer.

I hope the Stella McCartney bag comes through for you!

I've found these two that are potentials, a cardigan and a tweed shirt. The shape isn't ideal, I think a v neck would work better but both of these would work well in daytime formal situations. I have my eldest son's kindergarten graduation and elementary school opening ceremonies to go to (big deal here in Japan) so will need something for that. I think the skirt will be okay.

Great outfit. Cute and edgy. Love the skirt. I’d go for a v neck blazer with the top. I think a long one could work quite well with the proportions of the outfit.

Good luck with Covid. Things aren’t great here (Sydney) either. Hooray for vaccines.

What a great outfit on you! I love it. I think a straighter jacket in navy that comes to your hip-bone would look good. Or a bomber style jacket. I can also see a drapy cardi as you suggest. And maybe wear your hair up, with some pieces hanging out around the face. Here's hoping you get that gorgeous bag for your birthday! And good luck with the COVID situation. Man, sounds like your hubby is playing with fire. . .

Thank you! I really love the shoes so will be keeping those. I'm really not into very uncomfortable ones and these are wedges so dont hurt the soles and they arent pointy so my toes have enough room up front. Dare I say it but the whole outfit looks way better in person than I can capture on the photos. That said, I do think I could wear boots or slightly more refined shoes like heeled loafers or even flats with the skirt. I think its pretty versatile. I think an open cropped cardi might be a good idea as I need to keep the waist definition. From the front you cant see a defined waist due to the drapey top but from the side or slightly off front you can.
The skirt does feature a kilt pin. I think I'm going for a kind of very subtle slightly more refined punky look (without the black). Its a one off outfit really not needing to necessarily coordinate with other things.

Oh no- I hope your husband comes round! A dear friend is anti vax (and sliding into a disturbing place) and DH and I are scared to death for her.
Yes to the little stud earrings, or a bracelet would work. And a cropped cardi or little blazer as a topper.

This outfit is really cute! Another option might be a sort of shrunken, almost cropped cardi over the this ... the reason I thought of it is that the skirt gives me almost a deconstructed-kilt-uniform vibe which might be fun to pick up in the topper, with the drapey top acting as the contrast ... you'd have to try it, but might be fun. A drapey cardi would be a slam dunk for sure!

Hang in there with Covid ... it must be so stressful for people in Japan right now.

Welcome back! Sorry about your COVID situation, we’ve all been there at some point and some of us still deal with the worst of it.
I like your outfit a lot! I would not add a waterfall cardi, your top already have draping in the front. Instead try open v-neck long cardigan that would frame the whole outfit. And maybe different, more refined shoes?

Yeah the covid numbers are NOT looking good here. Worst they've ever been. Plus we were really slow starting vaccinations. I have my second on the 16th but my husband keeps travelling (he is a bit of an antivaxxer and doesn't really believe in covid *sigh*)...so i'm just racing against time...he has a cough as well right now and its making me nervous...

What a fun ‘full fashion’ outfit! I love it! I’d go for a long, long open waterfall cardi… totally run all the way with the idea of draped fabrics.

And now that you’re back… I realise you’re ringside for the olympics. That must be a mixed bag, exciting but…

Hi, sorry i've been MIA for a while, I was getting frustrated I couldn't find any pants that fit me and it was taking ages. I still haven't found any because I gave up for a while but more recently I decided i'd put and evening outfit together for my Birthday in October. I'll be vaccinated by then and i'm hoping to go out for a meal and if we are permitted cocktails too. Please don't mind the wet hair, I just got out of the shower. Its very hot here in Japan right now so like to try on clothes straight after a shower. The top is a really old "Karen by Simonsen" that I got from TK Maxx (The UK version of TJ) it has silver threads through but you may not be able to see that. I'm hoping to pair it with a navy stella McCartney bag for my birthday from hubby but we'll see. He's been promising one for about 5 years now but when it comes to the time we can never afford it. I have added some jewellery I'm considering to pair it with, the ear pin wouldnt work with my glasses though so i'll have to decide if I want to keep glasses and no ear pin or use contacts and wear it. I'm thinking keep the glasses right now and just wear studs. I would also like to get a cardi to cover my arms as bare arms aren't very common in Japan. What sort of style would you think would work well? I'm thinking navy and open like waterfall style.
