The bulk of the material seemed to cry out for something ... I dunno, daintier to balance the voluminousness?&nbsp; I did keep a brown cord and a cream velvet like (almost like a wale-less cord if that makes sense) in the barrel, and they are&nbsp; a bit shorter. I don’t want to invest too heavily in them either, but I do like it! I recently bought these COH ones, and besides my Nili Lotan olive pants, they’re really my only barrel style. The NL’s are more exaggerated, but the style has also been around long before this trend, so I feel like they have longevity for me. The COH jeans actually read a little more like generous boyfriend jeans on me, so I’m ok with wearing them for a while. I have also invested heavily in the wide leg trend, but I’ll wear them a lot. That’s why I have so many . And I agree that they make straight leg jeans feel odd , but I still feel they don’t have the classic longevity I want . I have quite a few pair between denim/wool/nylon/cotton and will not be adding any more.  They are just too weird (for me) to consider a wardrobe mainstay and I am over it .  I'm wearing what I have but don't see longevity at this point and that's what I want in my wardrobe additions.</p> <p>I bought these  <b>(Gap Barrel Hight Rise)</b> at the end of last summer, probably wore them twice  and just pulled them out again for spring.  A couple of compliments at the nail salon today :). I would have <b>preferred a more elevated and elegant footwear choice,</b> but we still have lots of snow and ice on the ground making walking treacherous. I'll switch to a brown loafer as soon as the ice is gone.<br />  <br /> Wore them with a second hand corduroy pea coat/cropped trench from <b>Lauren Jeans Company</b> (a Ralph Lauren offshoot I'd never heard of). I LOVE this jacket but maybe wear it  twice a season in spring and fall.  It's super soft and warm without being heavy.</p> <p>Also worn with a new heavy cotton fisherman knit sweater from <b>Quince ,</b> and <b>Birkenstock Bostons</b>.  I chose a cream leather bag  (no -name from a boutique) I normally use in the  summer but wanted  a pop of brightness to work with the sweater.  </p> <p>*bonus fun little article I read about barrel pants- I totally agree with the writer. </p>
