I am NOT the one hosting! Although I do find the idea fun, I cannot imagine myself throwing a themed party… especially not a Barbie one. Up until a certain age I didn’t really care for dolls (unless they came in a Playmobile set) or even the color pink for that matter. I became more interested in “girly” things as I got older and even dressed up as “Malibu Beach Barbie” for an 8th grade Halloween party. </p> <p>However, hosting a Barbie themed party for adults and setting a dress code that could be problematic for some guests is definitely not my style. </p> <p>I still have the dress that I wore as part of my “Malibu Beach Barbie” costume and it’s probably closer to the “Barbie Pink” you have in mind. The request on the invite was that guests wear at least one pink “main item” and not just an accessory. I feel bad for the guys, although my husband has a pink Ralph Lauren polo which he wears often, so who knows? </p> <p>I have a vast collection of tights and OTK socks. I especially enjoy finding new pairs that are a bit exotic or out of the ordinary, so these lacy pink tights from Calzedonia caught my eye immediately while I was browsing through their website. On their own, the might appear a bit dowdy or tacky but I saw they had potential…. and they popped into my head as soon as I got the this party invitation. I already own the other three items, so putting together the rest of my “costume” will be a breeze. I’ll probably wear my new wig with my pink paisley scarf to hide the obvious hairline and I’m still deciding between my silver sequin heart-shaped bag or the one that looks like a giant perfume bottle. </p>
