You will totally get more flexible. When your hamstrings are stretched it helps your back so much.

Thanks Rae! They are pretty cheap on the actual site so I wanted to get two and alternate. I need my hamstrings to be less tight so hopefully there is a lot of stretching involved!

My hamstrings were so sore the last couple days! Yikes! Had to take a "break" and hike instead, lol. I still did my BM stretches after the hike, though. Trying to push through and stick with it... :0

Una, the sculpting DVD is tougher. I will be honest and say that if I stay in my "challenge level" in all the positions, I cannot finish the whole workout. The other one is great for beginning and is still what I have been using to alternate with. You can always make it more challenging as you progress by doing the moves more deeply - The downside to this one is only an annoying intro that cannot be skipped. So I guess I'd go with Sculpting if you want to try to work your way up, and Fat Free if you want to start with something you can build upon.

OK, I think I might try this - we finally got DS's old bedroom (moved him into a bigger one) set up as an exercise room with a stationary bike and a TV. Which DVD would you recommend? I'm not so interested in arms, as I get that from climbing, but core/abs and legs!

Hahaha, I hate cardio, too! One of the reasons I was so happy to find BM. :) If I could cut out shopping, I think I could fit classes into my budget, but... o_0

Lyn, I think these are the ones I have, although you can find 'em cheaper on Ebay.
http://www.amazon.com/The-Bar-.....#038;sr=8-

There are some incredible flat back ab workouts that are incredible and really only work with the actual bar...When I ordered my Fluidity a few years ago it was it was backordered and took several weeks to arrive. I tried the moves on a chair and it did work. I do however prefer the bar itself and the full toning moves it allows me.

Oh Adelfa we have a pop physique pretty near here in Redondo Beach. Isn't it more cardio tho? I hate cardio!!!

Rae I am glad you started. Come complain to me when the pain gets to much to bear...hahahaha. I get the annual membership because I figure if I go four days a week it is only 6 bucks a class or something very low like that!

Tracey I will check out the Fluidity system. Haven't heard of it. I love the idea of a workout I can do at home when I can't motivate to get out.

I have never ponied up the $$$ for studio classes, but I have been trying the Bar Method videos for a few weeks and really love them! Tried them first when they were on Youtube and saw great results quickly. Then they got taken down and I finally got around to ordering the videos, lol.

I tried other "barre" videos, too, but I find Bar Method the best by far. Low impact, yet the tiny tweaks she tells you about your form pay off! I want to get more determined to do the videos every day.

Gigi, you don't need a bar. A sturdy chair etc. will work.

I've never tried anything like this. Do you need an actual barre, or can you just use a chair or something? Will any barre workout video on YouTube do? I want to do more strength training but without weights, and maybe this would be a good idea.

Fluidity bar home system here and it is my all time favorite workout... So frustrated with my recent sinus infections and vertigo that I got off track, but am hoping to get back on board next week... I love everything about it and never tire or get board with it because I love how my body feels after each and every workout...

I go to an independently owned barre studio.
Bar Method, Pure Barre etc are all based on the Lotte Berk Method and similar.
I think how good a workout is, is very dependent on the instructors.
Where I go, there are three instructors I really like and I schedule all my classes with them. With some of the other instructors, I just don't always feel like I get a great workout.
I've taken barre classes since '09. About 4 months in, my husband commented on my lifted butt and overall tighter body (and I used a personal trainer before starting barre) :-)

I am wondering if there are any other Bar Method practicers out there...I've been doing it for a year and a half now. Although it's repetitive, you get in and out of their FAST having worked every muscle, and leave feeling so relaxed! There are definitely gains, keeps my butt and stomach tight, everything reallly. Who else does it?
