I finally ordered the bougainville one yesterday. It seems like they don't always have all colors in stock, so I hope they have this one. I haven't heard anything to the contrary yet! I'll be able to return it if the color doesn't work out like I imagined, but I hope it works! I'm already wearing the watch with the black band and I can't stop looking at it, it's so pretty!

Yes, it really is! I still haven't decided. I think the purple will be a real neutral on me, almost like black for others. This would be the more practical choice I guess, it is subtle, like you said! I love bougainville as a color, but it certainly would be much bolder and higher contrast. I wonder if it could still work as a neutral? I want to be able to wear the watch with everything everyday .

That is a difficult one! Hopefully others will weigh in, but I think that one is just going to be a personal choice.

On one hand, the purple is subtle--- it is going to look really good (IMO) with navy, black, and greys-- it will have less contrast with blues. That said, you returned the purple docs that were just a bit brighter than that, then again this is a smaller dose.

The bougainville is a bit warmer (not warm toned, still cool, but pink/redder)--- i see it looking good with your hair. It is going to be a bit bolder and higher contrast with most things, although you do have some things and look good in this color family.

Yes, I agree. You're right about all of it - and I definitely don't want an 'easter egg watch band'. Seems like it's the decision between prune and bougainville!

I think I'm with you liking the pinker one for you. I still like prune. Agate is pretty, I just don't know if it reads too light/pastel. You wear a lot of blues, and if it is more grey in person I'd like it, but if it ends up more purple I just couldn't imagine wearing an easter egg watch band all the time. I like some of the greys and the pacific blue, but they may be too staid and masculine with the men's watch.

Thanks Elly. I think I like the bougainville best from all the reds. Prune is nice too. I also like the agate, that's the sort of lilac-grey one.

The bordeaux and bougainvillaea are both nice burgundies--- one darker and maybe a bit browner one more pink--- alternatively, the prune would also probably be subtle but nice.

Elly, I think I will. I'm still searching! I had leather bands before I got my last watch. I have to get used to them again, but I know that I will get used to it.

I hope you find the band you really want. I like the burgundy idea because it would have color but also work as a neutral. I'm sure you'll find the perfect one!

That one is pretty--- but I'm sure you can find something more affordable--- unless it is very high quality I find my leather watch bands wear out fairly easily, but then I've always taken them on and off alot.

That said, you might have a few adjustments switching to a leather band from a steel one unless you've worn leather before. I don't care for leather bands because any sweat or splashed water from hand washing tends to get soaked up in them and on me it can give me dermatitis.

Thanks Angie. I like the idea, but I haven't seen one in burgundy that would fit yet.

Thanks Elly. You're right, I haven't even thought about that. My current watch has a metal band and I didn't even think about practicality now with a leather band instead.

ETA
I've found one in burgundy that is the right width and length, but it's quite expensive.

I like two-- I mean, I like the first one, but all I can think of is how filthy it would get on my hands being a softer, more absorbent leather in a light color. I'd also worry about a bit of hand cream, a little liquid soap, or a drip of coffee potentially staining it. Then again, this is the land of cream footwear and handbags, and if it does get dirty it is a fairly inexpensive replacement.

Thanks MaryK, I do too! It's a man's band though, so it would be much longer than I really need.

Christieanne, good advice about the clasp! Some of the online shops I'm looking at also have every band both with gold or with silver available. The width of the band is 20mm, which is fairly standard, but most bands I find that are a shorter length are patent or shiny croco or something like that. All the natural looking ones are longer and meant to be for men.

You've narrowed it down - good analysis. One thing to remember is that if you find a band with the gold clasp, your watch jeweler can switch the clasp with your silver one pretty easily.
It can be harder to find feminine colors and textures for an oversized watch (since men tend to go pretty basic with a brown or black) so keep on the hunt until you are satisfied

Here's the first thread http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....green-midi.

I was in the departement store today and had a look, but I found nothing I loved. But I made some observations:

- I didn't like bands that were really shiny (they did remind me of my red patent leather ballet flats that I just don't like anymore)
- I didn't like it when the texture (?) was too big in scale, it looked very fake
- the really bright colors were too much next too the clean art deco look of the watch

I think I need something with a natural feel, that fits to the retro look of the watch. I'll have another look online and will post pictures when I find something that would fit the criteria. I guess these below would be best from the ones I posted before.
