One was a pair of peep toe shoes I wore with a blue and white dress, probably a dozen years ago. Nice but very limited use and they hurt my feet. </p> <p>And many moons ago, an old boyfriend gave me a butter-yellow cotton jacket by Mistral (surfer gear). It worked on me IF I wore it with white and had a tan. It’s a pretty color, like the ones you show here, but hard enough to work with that I don’t seek it out. I do like it with shades of blue. Anything away from my face.</p> <p>And as already mentioned, there's usually a cool-toned version of most colors, including, yes, yellow. Hard to find but not impossible. It's definitely one of those things you want to shop in person for.&nbsp;</p> <p>I did just pick up a yellow cardigan at Old Navy. No, it's not my best color. But it looked really good with the leopard flats I bought recently. And with a blouse in a more flattering color underneath (even a plain white blouse) I can make it work. I went with ON because for me a yellow cardigan isn't a long term investment piece. Unfortunately my beloved, decade-old, turquoise leather Danier moto wore through at the collar and sleeves last year so I’m still mourning its loss. </p> <p>Some of the brights and cooler pastels suggested on this thread are possibly passable colors for me, but they definitely don’t hit the same note on my “joy” scale. Right now, I’m feeling stuck with my neutrals for this summer unless you can find those colors somewhere, Janet. I have learned that anything too "special" in summer will not get worn -- I need to stick with things I can wash and wear, and nothing too pricey or precious. I've managed to put together some decent outfits with what I have, along with thoughtful updates of footwear. I need to continue to cool my heels on shopping this year anyway. Updating some basics is good (just got new jeans, and a new pair of shorts), and maybe a couple of new tops to refresh and replace some old things that I've tired of. </p> <p>I did order this dress, too, after trying it on in a store recently -- it's comfy and flattering, cool and breezy, and dresses down nicely with flat sporty sandals. And hey, blue! More dark periwinkle, please! </p> <p>Jessikams, I do like a touch of rust and cinnamon in my wardrobe so I do like those colors. I’m happy to see them, as well as some chocolate brown. But frankly, beiges and washed out pale colors leave me cold, as do ultra-bright warm colors (I know citron is super popular on YLF and I have never been tempted in the least).
