My hair looks very dark in my outdoor photos as my porch is covered. I unfortunately don't have an easy way to get direct natural light in my apartment; we are pretty shaded! I used a loose powder shadow applied lightly to a very large soft brush, and just swept the brush back and forth over my eye following the natural curve of my lid, and stopped at the crease. I applied the eyeliner (a creamy pencil from Bare Escentuals) over the shadow (usually it goes underneath) and started from the outside corner of my eye, staying close to the lashes, drawing a line that was thinner and lighter as I moved closer to my inner eye. Then I went back and lightly extended the line from my outer eye to a slight angled curve just outside the lash line. When I realized that there was more to "bombshell" than short skirts or deep cleavage, and that I could wear a close-fitting look in bright colors with bright red lipstick but still be modest and tasteful, it was a revelation.</p> <p>Lyn, that's awesome that it appeared to be a single piece! This time I paired it with my orange ECCO pumps. (<a href="http://pencilskirtlife.lookfab.com/post/patterns-orange-shoes-and-a-busy-week">I'm starting to wonder if my subconscious is preparing for Halloween too soon?</a>)</p> <p>Inspired by <a href="http://youlookfab.com/2012/06/26/karens-summer-style-skirt-and-denim-jacket/">Karen's first summer outfit</a>, which also featured animal print, I layered my denim jacket on top and scrunched/folded the sleeves to show off my white watch. (While the day warmed up considerably in the afternoon, it was a little chilly in the morning so I was happy to have an extra layer.)</p> <p>Since I had some extra time to kill and my eyes weren't itchy the way they have been so often in the past few months, I applied makeup a bit more heavily than I usually do for day wear: shimmery dark brown shadow, espresso-colored pencil liner swept into a smudged cat eye, dark brown mascara, bright red lipstick (MAC in "Ladybug.") It was rather fun to embrace a slightly more dramatic persona for a day. </p>
