My son had viral meningitis and got a spinal tap at 6 months. I could not stand it even though he has no memory of it. I can relate to the communications issue so well. I did not speak any English when I had my daughter. I spent 10 days in the hospital, post c-section freaking out about something happening and not being able to understand. Apart from having to be quite still and not move much while at the hospital, he even managed to have&nbsp;fun!&nbsp;This morning just before we left&nbsp;he was even telling&nbsp;one nurse "You are very&nbsp;pretty to me". Yup, charm switched on 100%.</p> <p>The whole situation was my worst nightmare - ending up&nbsp;in the hospital with a child&nbsp;unsure I'd be able to communicate in a foreign&nbsp;language. I think I was more than anything&nbsp;afraid I'd miss an important bit of information, but it was actually OK. He was just fine the morning after, which was the most important thing - then he did most of the talking anyway.&nbsp;Relying on my 6yo, that's life.</p> <p>Now it's back to reality, which feels a bit strange as I was in a proper bubble for two days. And since I need to catch up on those two days of preparing for the upcoming trip, I may be absent from the forum for the next few days.</p> <p>Btw, I was so lucky to have been wearing comfortable and&nbsp;layered clothing when we went to the ice rink, so that later&nbsp;when we had to stay in the hospital&nbsp;I could actually take some of those layers&nbsp;off and have 'fresh' ones for the day after. I&nbsp;have a new appreciation of "you never know when you may end up in the hospital".&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>And I definitely love my own pillow and my bed even more than ever before :-)&nbsp;&nbsp; </p>
