I think you may be on to something about the pitch because the heel was not that high. I just found that while pretty comfortable overall, I felt awkward walking in them. I was dubious that 1/2" would be enough but it is for me. I can't believe the difference. (The sole isn't very flexible and 1/2" was the max.) I have only worn them around the house, never out and was wishing that I had returned them when I still could. I find the pitch or angle to be off on the heel height and slant on these Miz Mooz boots, there is something that makes them feel unstable and uncomfortable. I have higher heels on other footwear that are way more comfortable than these! I'm really pleased that I was able to salvage these. I've noticed that I can't seem to wear higher heels these days so I was willing to try anything.<br /> @Kim: I looked up the place you went to but ended up going to a saddle/shoe repair in town. The guy made it sound like it was no big deal and he did it all of the time so I just loaded up the car and just went for it. I couldn't be happier. I was a little worried about the price especially when the other cobbler in town charged $10 to sew on a buckle for a pair of sandals--one side only. Sheesh.</p> <p>ETA: Glad this struck a chord with many of you. I can't believe I waited around this long to get the heels altered. About 1/2 inch was the maximum he could take off but it's enough to make them wearable for more than half a day. I think they came out great--for less than $13 per pair, a great investment!</p> <p>I took some time to play around with them in my closet this morning, paying particular attention to some dresses that don't get much wear. I'm hoping the boots help to make them look more current. Criticism welcome. Thanks for looking. </p>
