I think I might like train trips too. First took a long one when I was 20 I think,Christchurch to Dunedin. And the next year an overnight Auckland to Wellington with friends, we had fun. It’s so lovely you could do that with your Dad, especially since your Mum was unable to do similar ( I think you said she had severe rheumatoid arthritis?)<br /> I hope to be able to travel with my kids later. Lots of wash and wear - but it seemed to look fine. I am trying to be a bit darker again - I have never loved my natural colour so prefer some blonde highlights. I have minimal grey hair.</p> <p>Both relaxing - early nights, little wifi, lots of walking and swimming which I love! And invigorating - new scenery, new culture, new adventures.</p> <p>For me this year is about doing some new things. It was wonderful!!</p> <p>I only swam in a swimming pool in Darwin and Kakadu - no ocean or river swims there! In the other regions there were no salties so we were okay. I didn’t know there was a snake til after my swim but Jon was delighted as we saw two snakes in the same afternoon!! </p> <p>The train was 2.5 days- the driving 10 days. We don’t have a lot of trains in NZ and I have always loved them. And the Ghan train trip went really well too.</p> <p>Adelaide and the Ghan<br /> I loved the Ghan - relaxing, chatting, barista coffee, lovely meals and wine, and fantastic excursions. I love train trips - I find them comfortable and fun. The scenery was a bit repetitive - but it’s fun seeing the changes over 2,5 days. It was a lovely thing to do with my Dad. I liked Adelaide too - lots of walking, wandering the shops, the markets and a pretty walk in the gardens.</p> <p>Northern Territory<br /> Darwin is a great city - multicultural and easy to navigate. I wish we had more time there. We then went to Kakadu and Nitmiluk National Parks. I loved them both - Seeing the aboriginal rock paintings was fascinating - and the Yelllow Water cruise was absolutely incredible. I saw about 25 saltwater crocodiles including one eating a buffalo leg. The bird life was so active - thousands of ducks, many herons and ibis as well. It was a real highlight.</p> <p>I also loved hiking in the Edith Falls - stunning rock pools to swim in.</p> <p>Kimberley<br /> We had a flight over the Bungle Bungles which was a real adventure. We also walked in the El Questro area in two gorges. I even swam in the same Rockpool as a snake. Then a long two day drive to Brooke with wonderful beaches, sunsets and a fascinating history. </p> <p>Fashion and my capsule<br /> There was not a lot of fashion. I wore my Merrells and birks a lot, my swimsuit got a lot of use, and there were some odd combinations at times. I didn’t observe much fashion either- it was wet and cold in Adelaide so mostly jeans and puffers. I purchased a hat, some leggings, some sandals and a blouse. The hat was worn most days- it was fantastic! The only thing I didn’t wear was my light rain jacket - I wore my puffer in Adelaide and didn’t need it after that as it was hot and sunny every day! I could have had one less warm later and not taken my jeans - but I had the space.</p> <p>The camping<br /> We both slept well in the rooftop camper. We ate well too- the built in fridge was a game changer!</p> <p>Here are some pics.
