Hi, well I am a bit of a uniform-addict, so may not be that helpful, but what you outlined - skinnies, drapey top and flats sounds kind of perfect to me. Could you shake things up with a few boldly-colored pieces, or have some funky accessories to throw on when you head out the door, so you don't feel it's the same every day? I also am not a skirt girl and find dresses a bit much for my work-from-home lifestyle.

In the way of t-shirts, I find that Gap bowery ones are pretty good for lumps-and-bumps coverage, but I've seen quite a few lighter sweaters with that more fluid fit that you might prefer?

I guess I am not sure as it sounds like what you are doing/have is great?? Can you pinpoint what is bothering you about what you've got? Perhaps there is also a bit of adjustment as that's a pretty significant lifestyle change too

sorry, no real concrete advise on any magical pull it all together pieces, but plenty of commiseration. I also moved to a hot climate and spend a lot more time in the house. The thought of wearing pants right now would just make me melt, let alone boots or a sweater. Oddly enough, though, I never got into the yoga pants thing. Guess I see them as gear to do my yoga in [shrug].
As for skirts not working for you because of your tops situation - have you tried tucking or even half tucking into a casual straight skirt? This worked for me a lot in the warm weather with many tops that were long enough for pants.
For the heat, completer pieces go out the window and instead a cuff bracelet or statement shoe takes the outfit up a notch. Maybe a bright clutch if you're a bag gal?

Hi everyone! I know I tend to pop into the forums for a few weeks at a time and then disappear...but life's been pretty busy. After spending six years in the Washington, D.C. area, we moved to Austin, TX in March for a job opportunity for my husband.

I just wrote and erased a huge post, I need to not be so long winded! Short version:

- I left my job and now work at home doing freelance writing and selling vintage via Etsy. This also requires me to spend a lot of time at estate sales, digging through people's stuff (but I love it!). I feel silly in my beloved vintage dresses when I'm just working from home, or running errands, or out vintage hunting, but I end up hardly getting out of gym clothes half the time instead - not so fab!

- It's also much warmer here than I'm used to for this time of year. I've always loved sweaters and boots and while it's cool enough in the morning, lately, it's in the 80s by afternoon.

- The MOTG formulas don't always jump out at me either - they are so streamlined and classic and look beautiful on the page, but they don't feel like "me" on.

I did make a few new purchases for my recent birthday:

- Straight-leg jeans, the first non-bootcut or non-skinny pair I've had in forever.
- A new pair of baby bootcuts that I'm reserving to wear with heels
- A striped pullover from Loft - I wear it with the straight-leg jeans, black ballet flats and Russian Red lipstick and pretend I'm French, LOL.

When I'm wearing jeans, I'm mostly drawn to skinnies or the straight legs, drapey tops, and ballet flats (or boots), but I don't want to wear a variation on the exact same look all the time. I seem to have no luck with skirts, mostly because of finding tops to go with. I've also had a hard time finding tops to wear with bootcut jeans - everything in the stores is so drapey and huge, but T-shirts are all so thin and accentuate my stomach, which I hate.

So to wrap it all up - are there a few pieces (shoes? jackets?) I can use to sort of tie this whole mess together? Not wearing my dresses is probably a hangup I should get over, huh? And it would probably be easier if I posted some WIWs. I'll get on that. In the meantime, nice to see all of you!
