It sounds like you've received tons of wonderful recommendations about where to shop for clothes. I'd just like to throw this out there about sizing. When my babies were born, we received a crazy amount of clothes in the smaller sizes. 0-3mos didn't fit the kids for long at all--certainly not the 3 months. It would have been great to receive some outfits for later on, i.e. 6-12 mos. and up. It might be easier to find season appropriate outfits for those ages if you start at 12 months.

More details! Mom-to-be does not like pink, prefers organic/eco-friendly products, and baby is due in September. The last is a bit of a challenge because I'm seeing mostly summer clothing. Grrr.

Any suggestions on organic baby clothes that are fashionable? The mom-to-be is currently in the fashion industry, so we cannot sacrifice fashion here!

Laura - that site has some adorable clothes and keepsakes!!

Finally, I would love to buy all from one online site, where I can get it wrapped and then mailed directly.

How lovely to get a special gift from you!

I almost always buy gifts in the 6+ months size, which my girls wore for about a year.

I can't suggest specific items, being on the other side of the country, but a friend's baby looked adorable in an animal print all over suit with hood.

I love getting clothes gifts for my kids because I find it hard to bring myself to buy anything for them at all (because they get a lot of handme downs)

Baby Dior has some fab things!!

If you are going to go outside the practical range...I would get her something that she is likely to save as a keepsake...that is what I like to do.

Otherwise there is plenty of useful things everywhere out there.

At 8 1/2 lbs...my babies never wore 0-3mo...they went straight to 6 mo. So I am with Marianne on this, You may want to size up for the most wear.

I am very cheap when it comes to my own kids' clothes and hardly ever go beyond Old Navy. I do like Hanna Anderson and lines like Tea collection. Petit Bateau is another nice higher end brand. I can't think off the top of my head of any particular one that would have fun yet impractical things like leopard coats, I would just try baby boutiques in any yuppie area They usually carry a good assortment of more unusual fun things.
For small gifts I often buy Robeez shoes or Trumpette socks (those are fun for girls). I'd also go for 3-6 size instead of 0-3. Both of my kids literally wore their 0-3 outfits for a week.

I like Janie & Jack too. I also like Pumpkin Patch clothes sometimes. It's funny that you say that kids are so big Shana - my dd was tiny when she was born, and she stayed tiny. So she wore 0-3 month clothes for at least the first 4 months of her life. She was a bit premature, though.

My favorite baby stores are: Janie & Jack, Hanna Andersson, BabyGap and Jacadi. Of course I have two boys so I honestly don't spend very much time looking at the girls side. I think Janie & Jack has beautiful little girls clothing - cute little silk dresses, cashmere sweater sets etc. They have various themed clothing so they might have something with an ocean or jungle theme. One thing I would suggest is buying a 3-6 month size instead of the 0-3. Babies are so huge these days, many of them outgrow the 0-3 within the first week!

A very close friend of mine is about to become a grandma for the first time! I've been invited to her daughter's baby shower; I don't think I can make it but I would like to send a gift. Here's where YLF comes in:

My friend and her daughter are total fashionistas! The baby is a girl. I would like to get a cute outfit or two as a present. Usually what I do for these things is get two outfits: one for 0-3 months, and one for 12 months. The outfits needn't be totally practical - I like to give something the new mom would never think to buy herself. (I know I was terribly practical and dressed my babies in Wal-Mart stuff, since they grow so fast!).

Can you help me pick something out?

Oh, and the baby shower has an ocean/jungle theme... hmm, maybe I can find a cute leopard coat?
