Well, I think it's a great idea, having just bought a diaper bag with an express eye to future use as unisex travel tote! I wish I'd thought of it sooner!

I *love* the many compartments these usually have for organizing, as you say, a small stash of clothes for a quick change as well as whatever you might want on the flight and for work if you're getting straight down to business on arrival. (I always pack at least a day's change of clothes, so two sets, just in case check-in luggage goes astray.)

I actually like the idea of a wipe-clean interior, because I often bung in edibles and a small water bottle for bringing on those low-budget airlines, and find at least one of my clutch of pens also typically springs a leak on the flight --- every time without fail!

The one I bought isn't so much like a woman's handbag, since my partner selected it so that he could use it too (without turning too many heads, that is!): http://www.mothercare.com/Moth.....lt,pd.html (we got the denim version) I like that it looks like a regular large messenger bag/satchel on the outside.

Another plus: access from the top without having to undo the flap. Gotta love that for getting through security a tad faster (stuff in scarf, belt, phone, sunglasses etc instead of queueing for trays).

If I was buying just for myself, I may have got something more fun and eye-catching to match my carry-on case. I'd been eyeing this one: http://www.mothercare.com/Rose.....lt,pd.html

I think what I like is that they can expand across the gusset unlike a laptop bag/briefcase. And they have lots of pockets and I like that for travelling - no digging for your passport in some dodgy place... Claire, they are wipe clean inside but with leather and for this type of price I would hope it is good quality...

These ones are from Australian- Isle of Charlie:
http://www.isleofcharlie.com.a.....black.html
Then I found one who boast Cate Blanchett and Miranda Kerr as users... I quite like this one...
http://www.vanchi.com.au/sydney-satchel.html
And then there is this one from the USA...
http://www.bunnyberry.com/huds.....038;gclid=

I think I will order one and report back!

I like #2! Where are they from? I know Ju-Ju-Be makes some faux leather diaper bags that look pretty nice--and are machine washable!

I've been considering getting a baby bag rather than a briefcase. Something that can hold laptop in sleeve, lunch, and purse contents and still look cool. I like the timi & leslie bags...they have a very fashion look to them.
I've gone for a regularly laptop tote for now, since it works better for carryon with flights, but I really think the diaper bag is the way to go.

That looks like a baby bag that has been designed to look like a working traveler's laptop bag, lol! I think it's a great idea, as long as the interior isn't that awful wipe-clean white vinyl.

I think I have a diaper bag from that brand (what is it's name? I can't remember). I use it as a regular bag all the time. It's cognac crackled patent leather.

Sounds like a great idea. This is one of my weaknesses, always searching for THE perfect travel bag. Let us know how you go with whatever you end up purchasing.

BTW I made myself a sleeve/bag that I can either put in the pocket in front of me or strap to the tray table. This holds my kindle, magazine, suduko book, reading glasses, pens/pencils etc So all my "stuff" for the plane is in one place, no fossicking around once I'm on the plane and less likely to leave anything behind.

The bag looks good and might fill your needs. Baby bags usually have lots of interior pockets that make them easy to organize.

Clever idea Jen. And it does not look like a diaper bag at all IMO. There are so many cool designs around now in diaper bags and they can be quite versatile. I had an Oroton diaper bag some years back that I ended up using like this once it had ceased work as my baby bag:)

I have been on the hunt for a bag that would particularly work for travelling and then be ok for work at destination. The 'one' that needs to hold meds, scarf, passpart safely, spare socks, laptop etc etc... And can easily go over your shoulder as you lug suitcases/ negotiate train tickets etc. What about a diaper/nappy bag!?!??!?! This is one I spotted - the model is from the website. These are the two styles they have which I like... What do you think? or anyone had experiences of doing the same?
