She is one of my favorites, too! I like this look but her legs are very long compared to her torso. I think I could get a similar vibe but wouldn't be able to exactly copy these proportions.

I haven't read everyone else's comments, but I think I would prefer this if the pants were more tapered. But I'm into cropped slouchy tapered trousers (say that five times fast) so it may be just my obsession talking.

I think the key to the success of this outfit is three fold:

- all one colour from head to toe strengthens the long lean line
- tapered trousers
- high waist band with tucked in top

I'll be in total minority here, but I love this look. Since the time when I lived in Spain for a semester 20 years ago I love this length in a pair of pants. Back then, most Spaniards wore their pants much shorter than what I was used to, and I have liked that look since then. In this case, paired with a fab pair of shoes and tights, it looks very elegant and trendy to me. I have one pair of pants like these and should make an effort to dig them out. I hesitate, because it might just look weird in this PPL era.

I do not think it works at all but tf obviously makes her feel great.

This is the only version of shorter pants that worked to my eye. It reminded me of the short flares they wore in the late 60s.

Please post the photos, Jonesy! I have been committed to posting things that I know don't always pass the filters (like today's outfit), as long as they are acceptable in terms of my standards of presentable. It will broaden our horizons to see the unexpected. That's why I look at ALL the WIWs!

It totally works on her, but I cannot see it on too many others. The look is totally intentional, she's not trying to look uber tall and thin, she just looks 70s chic to me.

I agree with Aida. I think this would work even better if the pants tapered a bit more at the bottom. I know that Angie has a very strong opinion about PPL, and her opinion is very informed and carries a lot of weight, obviously, but nevertheless I'm seeing tons of cropped, tapered, relatively loose pants on the runway and on the street fashion blogs, and I gotta say that I like the look, for the most part! In fact, I now own a few pairs myself, and plan to sport them in the spring just for the fun of it (though I may or may not post the pics here!). I'm not 100% wedded to lengthening my leg line or always wearing things that are "flattering" (read, that "show off" my "feminine curves" or whatever :), so I have a bit of freedom.

I actually don't mind it, but it's certainly a deliberate look; she could easily unroll the pants and have them fit more PPL but it would change the vibe completely. I'm pretty sure her dressing goal isn't to lengthen, like it is with many of us here, which gives her the opportunity to play with proportions the way she does.

Yup. What Anna said. The pattern mixing and the woman are both beautiful, and that kind of *distracts* from the pants... but that doesn't mean the pants are flattering.

I don't like it at all. To me, the pants just look ill fitting. They look too big and sloppy through the hip and thigh, as well as being too short.

I think it could work if the pants were either more fitted throughout with a narrow leg and the same cropped length, or if the pants were more fitted through the hip and thigh and came to PPL.

I LOVE her bag though.

Ugh, a no from me. Her legs are so much longer than they look in this picture, plus the pants seem to fit like "mom jeans" through the hips/gut. The top half is amazing, but if you see only the bottom half of the photo it's just not good. She can do (and does!) so much better.
