Thanks for re-posting this, Unfrumped. I've been wondering about Pure too: the thing that makes cashmere pill and feel scratchy is when it's made with shorter, thicker fibres. Quality cashmere uses long, thin, fibres to weave the yarn, and Pure claim to do that. To be honest, I didn't trust their statement to be true, based on the price point and how much extra work and better materials go into making high quality cashmere. But reviews from Fabbers above make me rethink. If you give them a try please post about your experience.

I have one of their pashminas and it is heavenly and gets better every time I wash it. I have one sweater and I found it to be on the better end of average quality wise. I'd say the sizing is generous...definitely bigger than j crew.

Ha!
I never ordered and now have the catalog again with the free shipping offer and am tempted again. I mostly feel stymied by not knowing how sizing runs, either basic or for a given look, fluid or boxy. I know I could just put in a big order of multiple sizes and then return, because the odds of not having to return at least something from an order is pretty low, but , such a hassle. If I thought it would be "retail research" and sizing stayed consistent year to year, it might be worth it.
And again as before, there are a couple of color choices that look good but less common and could work in wardrobe. Also a pencil skirt (chants, don't need more pencil skirts...)

Thanks for this post! I received a Pure catalog in the mail and saw several styles I liked. Having never heard of the company, I searched for "pure cashmere reviews" and this post came up in the results. YLF members are the best.

I'm new here today but I wanted to say thanks for this post! I would love to replace a cashmere sweater and was also wondering about the quality of Pure.

I've been tempted, but not tried it yet. The sizing is american translated from UK so sometimes hard to determine. There are sites that review them and they seem good. My offer (email link) includes free returns and shipping).

jenanded, yes, it's UK based. That does give me pause because I think usual shipping is $20 and returns aren't free unless it's exchanging.

Thanks for info, glamourpuss and Pawprints (hmm, theme going on there).
I may give something a whirl with the lure of free shipping. Then if I learned something about sizing and liked the products in general, they might be a site I'd watch for new items or sales.

I have their cashmere wrap and it's high quality. I've used it a lot for a few years with no sign of wear at all.

I also had one of their sweaters, a long, slim fitting striped wool Henley. I got the size 12. I'm a size S in JCrew, BR, or AT. I'm a 4 or 6 (US) usually in a shirt.

I liked the sweater pretty well but didn't wear it a lot, mostly because the color wasn't my best choice and I really need a petite sweater, which they don't carry, and the long arms just bugged me. I found the upper arms a tad snug, too, and tight arms are hardly ever an issue for me. But I suspect this may have just been this sweater style. The whole sweater seened cut narrow but not troubling in the body in this case. Maybe I needed a 14. The quality seemed fine--not as great as the cashmere pashmina but no complaints.

I would try them again, but when I see something I like I remind myself it's not petite and there's no altering a sweater sleeve.

De-lurking to give my highest recommendation to Pure Collection. I have well over a dozen cashmere sweaters from a variety of retailers and I'm just about to the point where I don't want to buy cashmere from anywhere but Pure. Especially their gassato cashmere, which is a lighter-weight with a looser weave - perfect for Texas winters. Of all my cashmere, theirs is the softest and their prices are great, especially in the sales.

Fit is harder to address, and be careful about going by what the reviews say, For some reason, the reviews have never served me well on this particular site for size info. I seem to do best when I order my normal size, regardless of what the reviews say.

While we're on the subject of cashmere, a lot of people have a problem with woolens pilling, and will even return a sweater for that reason. Woolens pill. It's their nature to pill, at least initially, and I have found that after a few wears and washes (I never dry clean but wash in Eucalan, which requires no rinsing.), the pilling slows significantly or stops altogether. This is particularly true of quality wools, which is why I don't mind paying a bit more for them. Cashmere (and shoes) take the lion's share of my clothing budget because I keep and wear my cashmere for years, until I'm finally sleeping in it once it becomes unfit for public view. That's my own private luxury but it's worth it to me. Besides, a little once over with a sweater stone removes pills in a flash and is just part of caring for cashmere, in the same way polishing shoes and ironing shirts is part of their care.

::descends soapbox::

I received a catalog from Pure cashmere co. Then I checked out the website. I have no idea about quality. Mostly cashmere sweaters but a few wool blends and some skirts and pants. The prices seem reasonable, which may mean low quality, but OTOH I've read customer reviews of high-priced sweaters that pill immediately and so on.

I was a bit interested because there are a couple of styles and colors I've not found elsewhere.

Of course there is a promotion of free shipping. Also a % off some styles, but I'm having trouble telling what items are reduced.

Also I hate not knowing how the sizes run, and in sweaters that can really be an issue, since one style you might want "regular fit" and another you might want roomy, and so on. I really don't want to buy 2 sizes in everything I try, but with free shipping and the likelihood that something would have to go back anyway.

Heard any good or bad press about this co?
