I don't show my toes either - and I do like my feet and have regular pedicures. Like you, I simply prefer the look of closed toe shoes - but don't mind them open on other areas of the foot at all.

I wear the keens in #1 for hiking and walking my dog in the summer. I have worked in places where we had to wear covered footwear. However, I am one of those that think feet are sexy and the more of the foot you show the better.

I think you look great in #3. I love caged shoes.

I will do open toes for very casual, flat sandals though the front strapping has to be fairly wide and in just the right place.
For a dressy "sandal" or summer shoe look I really have to go closed toe, not just for bunion-toe issues but because indoors, even in summer, I will wear very sheer nude hose. So I look for closed-toe but strap, slingback, or some other area of openness.

My toes got cold indoors so I don't like wearing sandals at work. I really only like sandals when it is really hot outside. But then I also don't like to feel anything on my feet. So dust, rain, mosquitoes are all deterrents.

Well, I love my bumpy, boney, bunioned feet and take the best care of them that I possibly can. I will admit that I do prefer a sandal with a wide band to cover the forefoot/ bunion area, but a toe reveal is just fine!!

I've added 2 pair of peep toe shoes to my summer collection.

Love open-toed shoes. Even at work as long as they're not too bare-feeling. It just feels like a shame to cover them up all the time in warm weather.

I'm kind of wimpy about cold though, so I mostly wear closed-toed shoes until it's actual summer. Haven't worn sandals yet this year and it's the end of April already.

I really like the shoes you're wearing in #3!

I like wearing sandals, but only if the weather is truly warm; no cold toes for me, thank you! I can't wear them on a daily basis, though, as my routine includes walking dusty and sometimes muddy country tracks. Open toes would leave me open to dirty and possibly bitten or cut feet - not pleasant.

I love open toed shoes and sandals, but I understand what it's like to have a poison eye. You like what you like. Actually, I guess I do have one turn-off when it comes to open toes -- I do not care for very tiny ones. You know the kind -- peep-toe shoes where the "peep" is so small you can only see the tip of one toe? They read like grandma shoes to me.

While I don't have any overall issue with showing my toes, and I more or less wear toe-baring sandals all summer, I DO have an aversion to showing them at work. This is odd because no one else seems to have the same feelings; almost everyone wears open-toe shoes and sandals as soon as the weather is warm enough. And working in a school, things certainly aren't formal or business-like, so I am not sure what my issue is. Still, I mostly wear closed toe shoes at work and then sandals all summer.

I have a bigger issue with d'orsay shoes. I just adore the look of them, and I want to wear them. However, I have a slightly wide and high volume foot, and my feet never fit on the teeny soles of that style. They extend too much over the edge, which just makes me look like I am spilling over my shoes (not a good look). I keep searching and trying them on, but to no avail.

I'm with you - I'm not comfotable baring my toes. But I'm perfectly happy with d'orsay styles - somehow, letting the sides of my feet show is OK with me. Go figure

There's a long spring in Seattle where it just feels "wrong" wearing open toes. E.g., it's 50F today. I like closed toe shoes with a lot of open space on the sides, for spring/summer transition. And much of the time I work in a place where closed toe shoes are mandatory. Here are some of my choices!

I love open-toed shoes -- sandals, really, since I don't really do peep-toe pumps much (a little too dressy for my style/life). I actually have pretty nice-looking feet, so I don't mind showing them. I guess it's a little consolation for having not-so-pretty legs! ;-)

I never wear peep-toe shoes because my short toes rarely fit them properly. I used to dislike sandals, for the same reason, but a few years ago I got a pair of Mephistos that are shaped like my feet. I surprised myself by becoming a sandals person. It might have to do with living in a beach town that year! Now I wear casual sandals fairly often, but still no open-toed dressy shoes.

I dislike nail polish (chemical sensitivities) so it took me a while to decide it was ok to wear sandals with bare toenails. My feet are not the prettiest, with damaged nails and calluses from dancing. I eventually decided screw it, if guys can wear sandals so can I, even without pedicured feet.

I also prefer closed toe. Part of it is protecting them - I've done some permanent injury to my toesies, stubbing them. Part is aesthetic - have lost the nails on both big toes due to said injuries. Part is work, where open-toe is not welcome. Part is horrible associations with Hippie Summer Theater Camp, and all these people in rainbow tie dye running around barefoot on the floorboards, getting and spreading foot fungus...

I also tend to favor closed toes, mostly because my big toe is not my longest toe and some styles are guaranteed to jam my second toe and bring on the pain. And peep toes just look weird on me. As a rule I go for espadrilles and my beloved Keen sandals come summer. Thanks to YLF, I just bought a pair of pointy Franco Sartos that I love. Still, there are some open toe shoes that work well and my toes are okay enough (for toes) so I will go there. Mostly I wear them around the house and other casual situations. After all, airing out those toes is good for them!

I hate the mechanics of stuff getting into my shoes. I wear some Keens like your shoe #1 if there's any gravel roads or walking to do. Around here, we go to a party at someone's house, there's going to be a long walk up a gravel drive. Or if I walk to get an ice cream, the road isn't paved. Open toed shoes can be pretty, but only when I can elegantly alight onto the pavement.

Now we are talking I guess my activitys are more of the active sporty Or altheleisure type. I like more of my summer shoe choices to be R.A.T.E. And Mad Max type of shoes.

Kristen- the shoes you seggested are very pretty but not for me.

Thank you all for the comments.

I'm with you, ladywone. I quite happily exposed my toes and whole foot up until a year or two ago. I have a poison eye for toes that aren't perfectly straight and pointed forward instead of crowded and bent - and I now have one foot that isn't so great to look at. Also, there is nothing weirder than peep toe shoes where two toes poke through the end . Nothing sexy about that at all - the opening needs to have room for at least 3 toes to show Weird details eh? This all doesn't stop me from pedicuring and keeping my feet super smooth and polished - I just don't want anyone looking at my aging toes.

I love sandals, flip flops, all kinds, but am searching for some cute closed toe shoes for summer for those times when I don't have time to fix chipped polish or something. Also have old ones like photo 1 for outdoor things in hotter weather to protect feet.

I work in a place where showing toes is 100% acceptable, but this Spring I'm finding myself reaching for closed toe summer shoes more and more, even with a fresh pedicure. I didn't decide to do this, and I don't have an aversion, but it just feels more professional. I still bare my toes off the job.
