The soil is not deep, and I am always amending it with kitchen compost and leaves in the fall. It is dry, dry, dry...and I only water with what I collect in my water barrels. Asiatic lillies, and iris thrive! The white Lillie's tinged with yellow are 'Conca D'Or' bought at the wrong time of the year, so marked down to .99c a bag of 2 bulbs! I bought them all, and took a chance. Of course I expected nothing the first year, but the second year the show was dramatic. They are on their 4th year, and haven't let me down. They are fragrant like Easter lillies, and too strong for bouquets in the house!</p> <p>Like Cheryl wrote, just a short walk along the garden path after work can make me happy.
