Carla, excellent mask co-ordination! And super cute in the head scarf :)

Love that you and hubs are making the best of it all. If not now - when? LOVE your attitude. You are an inspiration.

As far as my pandemic accessory style goes:

no rings and bracelets

bags are more important than ever since I am always on foot and need COVID-19 measures with me as soon as I walk out the door.

Masked up as soon as I leave our front door. Mandatory here.

Wear my pearls daily :)

Since I’ve been working a little less, I’ve been wearing jewellery a little more and for some reason I’m feeling turquoise and turquoise-like earrings.

@Kathie - the 3-D origami masks are super easy to make - and fun. It takes only 15 minutes to make one from cutting it out to completed sewing, but I use a rotary cutter to cut out several at a time and chain sew them, which makes production even faster. The origami folding part is addictive (and therapeutic). I like how the mask pops a little away from the face, which makes it easier to breath. Also, the fit is snug enough that I don't need a nose wire. DH still prefers the Marfy shaped mask, and the DS’s prefer the pleated masks.

Here’s a link, but you don’t even need a paper pattern. Just cut a rectangle and cut off the corners (see chart below).

https://seekatesew.com/3d-mask-template/

@JamC - the scarf gets folded in half into a triangle shape and placed over the head. Wrap around the chin, then bring ends behind the neck - cross over - and bring back around to the front or side and tie off.

I realised I never quite answered your questions re change and accessories.

I am not wearing a lot of jewelry - mostly just that life is a bit quieter here with less going on socially. Hats, scarves and bags are being worn in a similar way.

And yes September here is spring - which means changeable weather. In the upcoming weekend I intend to put away my most wintery clothes and a few pieces I am over for the year, and bring out two or three spring items. I will switch over the rest in mid October once I feel like wearing sandals and summer dresses. It does feel like a time of change.

Great mask collection and thoughts about what you need.
The pandemic has caused me to wear masks most, scarves less and quit most earring wearing as I inevitably lose one when wearing a mask. Hand washing has discouraged bracelets but I still wear my wedding and engagement ring Plus a couple of rings that belonged to my mom. Bags must be big enough to carry the usual stuff plus a mask, disposable gloves, hand sanitizer and extra tissues and often my insulin kit.
It seems we will be having a big temperature drop and snow accumulation tonight and tomorrow and maybe Wednesday too, so , yes, September is bringing a change. I have been wearing “hot fall” but will be adding warm toppers and socks and booties. I also need to check on hats and gloves that live in the coat closet. I think I have what I need but eventually will need warmer full length pants but may start wearing more winter dresses instead.

Nice work on the masks - and the head scarf. And the car.....,,

Masks are worn here but not to the same extent as in some other places. I just wear one in retail stores. I currently don’t catch the bus but transport is the only mandatory place. I suspect masks are easier to wear in winter than in summer.....Which I will find out!!

My only dud purchase this year was this hat. I like it but have only worn twice. I will try and get another wear in this week!!

You mask collection is second to none! Brilliantly and beautifully coordinated! I can picture you cruising in the new 'thing' with your great headscarf - it was meant to be! ;)

September is usually when I switch out high season items - clean and store the outdoor rec gear, edit out kids' outgrown or worn out clothes, replace essentials. The weather here becomes more unpredictable - usually wetter, but often still hot with a couple of cool breaks later in the month. I am toying with the idea of leaving my heavier knits in their box a little longer, in hopes that a) I won't tire of them by January and b) that I will be forced to layer and get creative the shoulder season items that I have out.

Accessories have become even more minimal than before. I have started layering my necklaces, but my other jewelry is collecting dust :( My incredibly gorgeous mask capsule adds just enough interest to my otherwise boring wardrobe of all solid colors ;) I am anxious for colder weather so I can start wearing my jackets!

Love your new scarf too. Seems like it waited for you to go back and get it. How do you tie the scarf so it stays on your head with the wind?

I love the image of you wearing your headscarf while cruising around in your convertible! Excellent mask collection too. Masks have changed my accessory game - they have become my accessory along with sunglasses. I rarely wear earrings as they get tangled in the ear straps and even hats have been put aside for shorter trips as the full bandit look is a bit much for me all the time. The weather won't change here for at least another month or so, if anything it is hotter than ever right now.

Your masks are amazing! I love the look of the origami one. Was it hard to make? You and your DH are going to have so much fun with his new "thing." The headscarves are the perfect retro addition to go with the vintage convertible.

I'm finding it hard to wear earrings with masks- or, at the very least, I don't want to wear any that are too precious, in case I lose one. I do want to try to do more with my scarves, once the weather cools. We still have another month of summer temperatures in my area, but at least the humidity has started to abate.

Such good plans! The headscarf is superb.
I have collected some handbags though never was very good at changing them out, since for all the years I was working, I never took my purse into the hospital. But I did “ accessorize a bit on the weekends.
At beginning of pandemic I was just using a Baggalini. Recently I’ve branched out again and used a couple of my regular “ shopper” style handbags.
I had a sort of style goal to work toward smaller, more structured shoulder strap bags, since I have a few of those, but not really sure they hold what I need. But I’m getting tired of the larger bags. I don’t do so well with actual across the chest wearing, though.

I’ve been musing on the idea of a “ hair- colored “ ( one’s own hair) bag since it always fits your coloring! I have one brown handbag that’s close. And a burgundy one, while not my hair color, is in same mid- tone.
While I love navy, black and gray clothing with warm leathers like cognac, and actually like bits of orangey colors in prints, the tan- cognac concept just overall goes in the wrong direction.

Your masks are gorgeous, and you can rock a headscarf! I quite like that look - very chic.
September in TX means we go from boiling lava hot to just hot that can be tolerated by humans, hee. But as the light changes it has me looking at blazers and coats and thinking, “I’ll be wearing you soon.” I’ll join you with toppers in October.
The pandemic has made me ignore my earrings, because I don’t want to catch them in the ear loops on my mask. I had been using just one small shoulder bag and wearing the same sneakers, but I started teaching in person last week and am now using my work tote and wearing other shoes again.
I don’t wear much in the way of accessories, though - I consider myself accessories-challenged. If I were more of an accessories wearer, I don’t know if the pandemic would change it or not.

Carla, your collection of masks is so on point. They put my rather plain and utilitarian ones to shame. In Seattle, we will have a heat wave this coming week. I'm perfectly fine with having a bit more summer weather with the opportunity for more outdoor activities and to wear my breezy cotton skirts and dresses. On the other hand, I am ready to wear my patterned scarves, tall boots and cozy long cardigans.

And as far as I remember all your outfits were lovely.
I'm back at work and using just my old red bag ( it's past it's prime anyway ). Alternating between 3 pairs of sneakers and 2 sandals. Smaller earrings and short necklaces.
Most of outfits have black&white print somewhere.

August was an odd month. I spent a lot of time thinking about fashion and setting style goals, but I sure didn’t put together many creative or interesting outfits. For those who are interested in the ongoing counting wears project, I alternated between two pairs of shorts (blue jean and white jean cutoffs) with the exception of 2 days when I wore a skirt. 11 tops got worn, 2 saw 6 wears each and the rest 1-3 wears.

What I did do was reevaluate accessories, and bring them in line with my closet, and the life I lead now, influenced by the pandemic.

Masks: when I started making masks in March, I workshopped a Marfy pattern with other YLF sewists and created them from what I had on hand - which was a fabric stash for quilting projects. In 6 months I’ve developed a repertoire of 3 different mask styles (Marfy, pleated rectangle, 3-d origami) and acquired new fabrics with safety and fashion in mind. As we progress through the phases for re-opening, more opportunities for social interactions are probable and a collection of masks required. I’ve made myself a weeks worth of masks in my favourite design, in colours that co-ordinate with my wardrobe.

Bags and wallet: Last year’s red crossbody has been joined by a mini backpack earlier this year. Two months ago I dug out an old fanny pack. They all get used, but I was struggling to fit my 4x7 wallet into them. After musing all summer, and stalking a smaller 3x4 wallet, I pulled the trigger. The new wallet holds everything the older one did, even though smaller in size - and slips easily into my bags, along with phone, keys, and mask. I would like a dressier version of the fanny pack - olive leather (?) that I could wear bandolier style or regular.
