These look like fantastic items to me and also versatile, so there's probably LOADS you'll be able to do with these

Good thoughts on the jacket, Dee. I do have a couple blazers, a faux leather moto, a puffer jacket, and a parka, so I'm not in dire straits or anything. They're not the versatile, go-with-anything outerwear I'd call ideal for the long-term, but I won't go cold.

Looks like a good month to me! You have a very cohesive wardrobe/style based on your WIWs and I can see these integrating well with your wardrobe. The only thing that stands out is you had a lot of jackets/coats on your list and didn't get one. Hopefully you have one that works for now, otherwise that's going to become a need rather quickly.

And I think six items is a good start toward a seasonal refresh. I posted mine earlier today and I've got more than that...

I think you had a very productive August; the daily outfit photos alone are impressive! I hope the pieces turn out to be as good in practice as they are in theory (sometimes I think my bookishness can be a bit dangerous when it comes time for my imagined solutions to meet reality, hehe).

Alassë - I will probably do a little more shopping in September. There are a few more things I'd still like to have for autumn. Then, I'll be happy to be done for a while, especially as my workload ramps up significantly in October-November-December.

ashleighdw - I felt the exact same way about the striped sweaters! I tried on a bunch before deciding they're just not for me right now. I do have a pretty good scarf collection, so I think I'm covered there.

I can understand sweater avoidance.I must have tried on at least two dozen striped sweaters only to have none flatter or fit - in fact I've discovered I look terrible in stripes which is horrid because I love them!

I love those pants btw.
This is basically what I live off atm. I'd maybe add a light scarf or two - great for switching up an outfit quick without needing to change all that much

If you do go shopping for outerwear, I'd recommend wearing what you what you just bought. That way you know it will work.

I think you did very well, personally. Adding 6 items will feel like a good refresh. You could always put the remaining items (minus underlined ones) on a list for a winter refresher, and do another shopping challenge later.

My August challenge was all about mindful shopping, as I try to rebuild my wardrobe from almost nothing.

I had a list of basics/essentials I thought would help me accomplish my style goals and planned to try on a ton of items and revise as necessary.

Here's what I started with:

Shoes: flat or low-heeled oxfords, leopard flats
Tops: light-colored blouse, versatile printed blouse, dark-colored blouse, button-down shirt, chunky sweater, striped sweater
Toppers/Outerwear: denim jacket, leather jacket, trench coat, dressy winter coat
Bottoms: none necessary

Added as I thought more:

Accessories: leather crossbody bag, leather belt, fedora or Panama hat

I bought the items in bold, plus a striped tee, plaid leggings, and a new pair of glasses. SIX items total (assuming I keep the two silk blouses), three of which weren't on the list. That feels like a ton to me, but I think it'll be a pretty solid core for my fall/winter wardrobe.

I've decided I can do without the underlined items after trying things on. Can't decide if I did all right at this challenge or failed miserably. I guess we'll have to see how the items I picked actually work for me?
