Ingunn, by all means, post away! I was planning my blue dress for today so I will post a pic soon. I 'accidentally' wore one on Thursday as well, so I guess I'll post it also. (now to just get out of lazy Sunday mode and get dressed in it!)

!'m ready! When do we post pictures? I have been wearing dresses every day for a week now and want to keep it up. How about posting dress outfits on Sundays throughout August? I like the way you put it, Mo, to wear dresses "just because", not for any particular occation.

I love it!

I was a dress girl... until I met A/C and grew too old to suffer for fashion. (Who knew hypothermia was possible indoors?) I love dresses because you only have to put on one thing in the morning, LOL. Every second counts!

Deborah, of course you can join! Can't wait to see all the dresses :)
Ramya, Angie has some posts about how to layer dresses for colder weather. Maybe that might be a challenge for you in and of itself?
Shiny, I have always been drawn to the dresses when I enter a store, too! But the problem was in the disconnect between buying them and actually wearing them. I had a good 2 dozen or more that I have been slowly whittling down. I do wear dresses, probably more than any of my peers in Tahoe, and more than the flip flop and shorts crowd here in FL. I just don't often wear them casually. It's for going to eat, or a party, or other similar outings. My challenge will be to wear a dress just because - not because I'm going to dinner, or whatever!

I've been living in dresses for months now. This does take a mental shift. Like you, I used to view dresses as too dressy. I wouldn't even wear them to the office. But something shifted for me. I think it's the fact that I've been able to find dresses that 1) fit (I'm petite and while I can sometimes get away wearing regular sizes in tops and bottoms, I can't with dresses. A dress HAS to be petite or it won't work on me) and 2) don't constrict me in the waist, like pants and skirts can have a tendency to do.

Instead of finding dresses too dressy, now I'm Sylvie's camp and I feel like I'm "cheating" when I wear a dress. Because it's so easy, it's just one piece to throw on. There's little fuss or muss to style it. What's more, I have several dresses that are soooo comfy to wear, it's like going out in your nightgown.

I have been on such a jag with the dresses (starting out last fall/winter) I have built up quite the stable. I am drawn to the dress department first whenever I go shopping online or off. I now have a range of dresses, from casual-enough-for-the-beach, to dressy-enough-for-work.

I even shocked myself recently by falling in love with two maxi dresses (Ann Taylor). Wow. Never thought I'd wear a maxi dress! I've discovered maxi dresses are perfect for backyard parties where there may be mosquitoes, as a change of clothes after a day at the beach, for going to the movies where it is overly air-conditioned.

If I lived in FL, with the weather as hot and humid as it has been, I'd live in dresses the entire time. Dresses (made out of natural, breathable fibers) are so much cooler too.

Embrace the dress!

I can't join you in this particular challenge, as I don't have a single dress to my name right now. But I really do encourage you to make the effort to dress decently even if you're at home most of the time. I made the decision a few years ago that I would get up and get dressed in the morning, dressed well enough to be able to walk out the door at a moment's notice with my head held high. Often I dress to workplace standards (less in the summer, mind you). It is a form of self-respect that I think is very important for morale. I can remember when I would be humiliated when people came to the door because I had really let myself go. It is not a good place to be.

So thumbs up to you! It will only be good for you.

Sylvie, that is funny. But . . . it could be that my skirts are largely made of cotton and cargo style. Decidedly casual. I don't even own a pencil skirt. Let's just say that none of my skirts would look right with pumps lol.
Anyway, I figure if I won't wear my dresses in FL in August, I better rethink getting any more!

Mo, that's so interesting that you consider a dress dressier than a skirt because for me it's the exact opposite. A dress + denim jacket or cardigan says - I just threw this on. With a skirt, it's obvious the outfit had to be planned (and I feel more self conscious)

Ingunn, I've been (inadvertently) having a dress week too! It's been three days in a row for me of dress + bare legs + heeled shoe (shocking) and I'm not going to break the streak now.

Hi Mo, I'm a newbie in YLF, and I love a challenge! I'm having "A dress week" this week, and I would love to join you for a different dress a week throughout August. I really like wearing dresses and skirts :-)

You can see my five dress days so far this week here: http://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/dress-week

Your cornflower blue dress is smashing! I'm sure it looks great on you.

Hm, maybe I will join you! I don't have all that many dresses, but it wil be interesting to make a point to wear them more. I agree that a dress somehow feels more formal than a skirt at times - however, I *never* wear casual skirts! Why is that?

I did pretty well with July (not reverting to loungewear/PJ's with all the at home time I have) and want to keep the ball rolling into August. [EDIT: I should specify for those that don't know, at the start of the month I moved across country, quit my job, left my car behind, and am basically homebound. It's easy to slip into comfort zone. I didn't want to go there ] I did find myself relectant to wear some of my dresses I love. Perhaps feeling dressy compared to the cultural norm came into play. Funny, I wear skirts without a blink but somehow a dress feels on a different level. I wore a few, but this month I want to wear a different one each week, no matter if I'm out on the town or not! I think I will debut the cornflower blue one this Sunday for starters
