I don't have any problem reading YLF. I've had bifocals since about age 45 and even get them in prescription sunglasses. I just have to hold my head a bit high when working at the computer.

Niva, my son just showed me that neat little trick, also! I'm just hopeless when it comes to all things technological.

Shiny, I hear you! Glad you don't have to bother with them yet. I held off getting bifocals as long as possible and I still carry readers in my purse for my husband when we go out. He never has his reading glasses on him and can't read the menus either!

Niva, I love you!! That did the trick!!! Soooo much better! I Increased it 4 times and now the type is much more readable! I am going to have to share this trick with my dad, who complains about facebook print being too small for him to read (it is small... but YLF is even smaller!)

Debora, yes, my eyes are aging. I do not wear bifocals, nor does my eye doctor think I need them just yet, but I have a pair of inexpensive readers that I carry with me when I need to read menus in dimly lit restaurants!

Interesting, 43 here (44 this year) & am wearing a trial pair of the bifocal contacts myself! I have to say it took my eye's some time to adjust to them - at first my laptop seemed more blurry than normal but things seem to be workig well now. Darn age!!

shiny, If I remember correctly you use Firefox for your browser, correct? Try pressing the "+/=" key while holding down the "Ctrl" key. It should instantly increase the resolution only on this browser window, essentially "zooming" in. To zoom in further, press the same key combination again. You can zoom in quite a bit this way. Hope this helps! I would not want you to suffer any longer if I could help

Hi Shiny, I don't have any trouble reading the site but I have bi-focal contacts and progressive lenses in my specs. Do you still have single vision lenses? You could be developing presbyopia. My optometrist told me that age 45 seems to be the magic number for this and if you don't have any trouble with up-close reading after age 45, then you are in the minority and cheating nature!

What happens is that the lens of eye starts to loose elasticity and the ability to focus in your forties making it harder to focus vision up close for reading. I developed trouble with reading and focusing on fine print right around the age of 45 and that's when I went from single vision lenses in my specs to progressives which solved my problem. A year of two after that, I went from single vision contacts to bifocal contacts. (I wear my contacts during the day and glasses at night.) I got tired of wearing contacts and constantly having to put on "cheaters" to read fine print.

I hope I have explained this properly. I just thought I would throw this out there in case you haven't had your eyes examined recently. And of course, this may not be the case with you at all. I'd be interested in hearing if others have experienced any difficulty with the site.

Maya's thread about glasses reminded me to request this site feature: increasing the font size.

I may be in the minority here, but I find the copy on the site is too small. When I read the site with my glasses on, my eyes tear up and I get headaches. (I'm a devoted YLFer so I have learned to read the site with my glasses on instead ;-)

I have tried increasing the font size in my browser, and on my computer itself, but it doesn't work. While this complaint is not specific to YLF, it seems the type on YLF is one of the worst. On my monitor, I'm guessing the point size is only about 4-6 points!

Anyone else have this problem?
