I saw the Laundry dress at Daffy's (regional off-price store) and I really liked the print, especially for a professional setting. I wanted to try it on, but being that I am very pear shaped and kind of lumpy I was too afraid the poly/spandex fabric would have just clung in all the wrong places. But the print looks crisper in person and they had many colors (that print in red, black, navy, and those three solid). If I were leaner and less big in the hips/bottom I definitely would have tried it because I was very drawn to it. The ATL dress seems very casual to me, though would be great for summer outings. I can imagine it paired with a lot of different sandals, belts, jackets, and accessories. The Laundry one looks more instantly put together and sharp and would be fun to add different bold solids to. So I think it depends what kind of wear you want to get out of it.

The laundry one seems more versatile, but it also looks fairly short. I think it would be fun to pattern mix with the Laundry dress (if it works). I'm thinking a watery floral printed scarf? Or, you could add colored shoes, a colored jacket, or a leather moto jacket and flat booties...(-:

It's great to get all this good input! I tried the Loft dress on in Red & Black and while I liked it in black - I realize I didn't LOVE it. I think the main issue is that it's a little bare for work. I could layer a jacket on etc.but it does seem like the Laundry one might work a little better for my lifestyle. Plus, I feel like I'm at an age where I need to be thinking more about quality and the fabric of the Loft one does not seem to fit that need.

If I had to choose I'd buy the wrap dress because a lot of my wardrobe is for work. But if you're looking for a more casual dress to run around in then I like the style of the Loft dress too.

If I was on a limited budget and really didn't have any dresses, I'd might go for something different, probably a black or grey sheath or a-line dress (or the particular shape that works best for you). Are you near an H&M? They have some amazing dresses for $30-40 or so.

I like the look and style of the LOFT... BUT the fabric of the second:( Matt jersey is just a better drape and quality than the polyester...for long term investment I would choose the 2nd.bluefly Shelli Segal

It totally depends on your lifestyle. For me, the Loft dress is very bare and very casual, and since I have a business-formal type life, I'd get a lot more use out of the Bluefly dress. YMMV.

ummmm....not i'm sure! To me the ATL dress is more casual and the one on bluefly dressier but i think with the rights shoes and accessories you could dress both up or down!

I like the ATL one more though. Are you looking at the navy or coral? Love the zippered pockets.

I tried on the ATL dress and I thought it would be a versatile dress for my lifestyle but it clung to my legs so badly (static) that I immediately put it back on the rack. I did like the style, I just wish they made it in a different fabric. I think the second style in a solid color would also be versatile. I like the pattern as well. I guess that's a roundabout way of saying I vote for dress #2

Yes, that's what I struggle with. I did try on the Loft dress and it is kind of a casual fabric. It definitely needs a belt to make it work. I think what I need to do is try on the Laundry dress (I've only seen it online) because it also comes in a solid which might be an even better option!

Thanks for your feedback Ladies!

I think the ATL dress is more casual and so more versatile. I'm not sure they're comparable dresses, the Laundry seems more dressy and officelike, and its print makes it a little less versatile right off the bat.

I forget what your lifestyle is like, which might change things, but having seen the loft dress in person I think the laundry dress will be more versatile. The loft dress fabric is just too casual, and reminds me of something from REI, kite material, or sail material. Which isn't a bad thing (I LOVE REI, kites, and sailing!), it just means the dress isn't as versatile as I thought it might be. As soon as I saw the fabric up close I crossed the dress off my list - I wouldn't feel comfortable teaching in it (and I would feel comfortable teaching in the dress if it was knit or woven cotton). Have you seen the fabric in person?

ETA: I am lusting after this dress from Anthropologie, which is similar to the red loft dress, but much more versatile: http://www.anthropologie.com/a.....Style=Info

I vote the first dress; I think it will be more versatile because you can build on it and it doesn't have pattern like the second one which limits your mixes and things.

They're both good dresses, but the first calls out to me (but I can't wear scoop necks) and I think it would be more versatile. I can see it dresses up or down. Would the second one be a little short? Don't know, but you really can't go wrong, they're both great dresses. I guess it's a matter of what looks best on your body.

Hi,

I recently got a new hair cut (as Angie suggested long ago) and it's definitely making me put together things a little differently and try switching up my style! I'm on a tight budget but would like to add a dress to my limited wardrobe. Which of these 2 dresses do you think would be more versatile?
