I was thinking the same thing as dianthus...models are professional at making clothes look good in photos. We are not! Sometimes photos don't really show the item to it's best. Don't worry about posting WIWs in it. If you love it, then wear it!

Some items just don't photograph well either. If you love it, keep it. Otherwise, keep looking. If you are fighting the urge to argue in favor of keeping it, that would be a good sign that you love it.

Thank you both. I appreciate the pep talk. It's been hard to start to trust myself again as far as fashion finds go. I've been such a fashion flop for so long that I still don't trust myself very much. Hopefully I'll get there eventually.

I agree with MaryK! I have certain tastes that I know aren't generally 'the norm' and that's okay! Heck, that's great. I have had some things well received here that I realize just aren't me, and vice versa. If *you* like something, that is the most important thing.

I do have broad shoulders. They are wider than my hips giving me that IT look. So I'm betting that's part of the problem. It's a size small and if I an XS was available, I don't think I could button it.

I do really like it. It's a color that I can pull off, I love the style, and it has 2% spandex so it has some wiggle room. I'll probably shrink it and wear it. Funny thing though... I would hesitate to wear it in a WIW pic knowing that half the people in this thread voted against it. LOL Oh well.

I like the jacket, but not the skirt. I find jackets look too big on me when they are comfortable too, Brenda. Do you have broad shoulders? To be comfy in my shoulders, the rest of the jacket looks too big. If it's not too bad, I just live with it. Especially if it's a style jacket that I really like. I think you should keep the jacket if you like it.

I couldn't do them both this month, but in later months, yes, that would work fine. Until then I would just wear my knit moto jacket more often. It might take a while to find a nice knit jacket anyway. I got this jacket during ATL's 40% sale so it wasn't a bad price.

I actually like the jacket, even if it is a touch large. The skirt seems very casual. I admit I'm not a fan (although it might be good for very casual events during the summer when it's hot?)

Hmmm.... I have the skirt through mail order because I don't have a Loft near me. I'll have to decide whether it's worth taking the chance on returning it twice. :/

Sigh. Ok, I tried on a jacket that fits me better and now I can see how this one isn't a great fit. I really wanted it to fit well because it's one of the few military/cargo style jackets I've found that isn't soul-sucking beige. I'll just be patient. A good one has got to come along eventually.

Brenda, it's hard to judge the skirt when it's not the same size or color as the one you are actually planning to buy. Maybe you can post a photo from the dressing room asking for quick feedback? You may need to go down more than one size.
I can see that a casual skirt like this would be a nice addition to a busy MOTG's summer wardrobe if the fit is good. The cargo style should be ideal for an IT.

hmm, maybe it's the cut that is making the jacket appear big rather than the size. Perhaps you need to look for more tailored jackets? Jackets can be really hard. I"ve tried jackets on that are tight through the shoulders but look 2 sizes too big from the front. I think it has more to do with the structure.

I guess the jackets that you felt were hard to move in were small in certain areas but too poof in other areas - does that make sense? I have to try on a TON of jackets to find one I really like... I'd say pass on the jacket and the skirt.

I hope you can find something you feel 100% fab in! I know a very small tailor shop here does tailor jackets if you are a hard fit - a friend of mine had a parka tailored and it looked much much better; dunno if this will be an option for you. It definitely wasn't for me :p

Just a thought, Brenda, on jacket fit - sometimes if sleeve holes start too far down or low on my torso, that causes the jacket to feel tight and uncomfortable because my arm rotation gets limited. Make any sense??

I also think the jacket may be a tad too large. And the skirt . . . not anything special really, sorry. Maybe a skirt with more stiffness to the fabric to balance your IT instead of such drapey material? But I think the jacket could be great a little more fitted.

I'm really hoping you all like the jacket, because I really like it.

The skirt... well, I need a size smaller. And I hate the color. It looked like khaki on my screen but is more like a rose/khaki. But there's a darker color I will exchange it for if the shape works ok. I don't know how well you guys can visualize what it would look like smaller. So use your imagination.... dark gray/sage and one size down... does it work? Am I enough of an IT to pull off the cargo pockets?
