It held a calendar, address book, and scratch pad.&nbsp; As the trip was winding down, it got really full, and then it was gone. In Venice, I had gone to a payphone to call my parents. When I got back to my room in the convent, my backpack was unzipped and the agenda missing. I wanted it for years--all the people I'd met that summer, all the college friends and other info from that era--gone. I assume the thief thought it was a wallet or checkbook, and tossed it aside when it was worthless to them. This one has a zipper pocket on the side touching my back. But thanks for the reminder.</div><div><br /></div><div>Katerina, I've just seen that there are many sites on upcycling those pods and selling the resultant art. There is a local one near me called the Takapuna market on Sunday mornings and a famous central city one in an old gasworks building called Victoria Park Market ( opposite Victoria Park, a large park near the Auckland Harbour Bridge). You could Google these if interested. I find many markets have a lot of junk so I don’t tend to frequent them but they can be fun to wander around sometimes. Hubby doesn’t like them. There is a bit of a framework around the belts, but the necklaces are truly just crushed coffee pods strung on a string. I didn’t handle them a lot, but didn’t get the impression that they are sturdy/would last a long time. They would be a good project for little hands to make for mama or grandma. </p> <p>Thanks Jenni! Does NZ have this kind of market? The places I’ve lived in the US don’t really. The way they’ve got fuchsia combined with blues &amp; purples is the way I like wear it. This stand was for a label that’s apparently based here, in NY, and in Paris (or maybe London—I forget) so buying something there wouldn’t be “buying locally”. The necklace isn’t either—it was made in India, as I learned after I’d paid for it. I got the backpack as a “tester” to see if I liked carrying it well enough to spring for a more expensive version. I did, and I got the Kate Spade that I hardly ever use. It’s just too precious for me, but I use this one all. The. Time. Ironic, huh? </p> <p>Joy, it’s funny but I was drawn into that stand by a mannequin out front with a long fuchsia cardi, but once I saw the whole rack, I was overwhelmed &amp; didn’t want to dive in. Weird, huh? </p> <p>The market is in the middle of gay Berlin, since the 1900s at least. There is nothing particularly LBGTQ about the market itself. When my parents visited me in 1996, i wanted to get them out into the sun to get over their jetlag. We were blocked from the market by a parade—Christopher Street Day/gay pride! Markets overwhelm my son because of all the sights &amp; sounds &amp; scents &amp; people, but I enjoy them. I was sorely tempted, but kept my wallet in my backpack, except for the necklace. It’s glass beads, not nespresso capsules, but those things looked pretty cool. I liked the colorful belt, but then I liked the red leather belt too. When I got home, I kicked my shoes off before I remembered to take pix. Sorry </p>
