I can see that - about East Coast/Midwest v. West Coast. Admittedly, I think the only store I've been to for spring is Zara, but I had to "edit" myself. I'm wearing the heck out of the two coats/jackets I got.

Seriously Janet, I think fashion buyers have been deliberately holding back Spring stock in retail stores in the Mid West and East Coast because the weather has been the worst on record. Not so on the West Coast.

I think I like Spring Fashion more than Fall Fashion at the moment. YES - the sky is going to fall down.

Ha. When you said it wouldn't button, I knew it'd be that dress. It gapes even when sized up and is still tight through the hips of most of my customers. Even on the people who fit the bottom, we needed to add a snap to the chest.

These ones are looking amazing on people in person, though. Photos don't get it across.
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/di.....origin=cat

Me too, Rae. I'm finding some things online (the CM white jacket Angie posted, the slip-on sneakers, etc), but the stores around here are pretty dismal. Of course, it might be a local thing too -- maybe the buyers in DC or even Baltimore are choosing some more interesting things. But I'm seeing a bunch of washed-out pastels and (what look to me like) frumpy cuts. Or very juniors boho styles. Just not feeling it.

That's OK. I am happy trying a few things I've found online and seeing how my spring wardrobe shapes up as the weather warms. :-)

And I only say WTF to DVF. I love my wrap dresses (one is a size 6, one is an 8) -- it really messes me up to try on a 10 in one of their dresses that won't even button up the front. It was this one: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/di.....42?origin=

Now I can see why it was on sale.

I'm liking little things here and there from different brands that are admittedly not typical mall storefronts. ALC, Rag & Bone, of course HL.

DVF is cutting super small this year.

Not much here, besides...snow! 3 hours shovelling Saturday, 3 hours shovelling last night, and another 1 hour today!

I did manage white jeans (see Sunday post!) but likely won't get to wear them until May. Glad to have them in the closet, though!

Janet, I'm with you. I am trying to decide if I'm just a stagnating curmudgeon now. But a year ago I was all over everything, so this is not such a bad break. And it's still deep winter here.

I've been feeling this way too. Everything seems really lackluster or something. It seems like everything is still black, white, navy, and gray. I've got enough of those colors, thanks to six months of cold weather. I did buy a magenta-colored button-down from BR yesterday, and I ordered another button-down from them online in lavender. But I don't know how much I'll wear them--I bought them mostly to have on hand when I need to dress up a bit. I might end up sending them back--still have to work on styling them.

And I'm struggling with the ankle pants. I found a pair in a color I really like, but they just look stumpy on me. I wanted them tapered, quite a few inches above the ankle like Angie said, but places either don't make them that short, or if they do, they're not tapered. And yours truly is tired of alterations. Enough is enough!

I'm depressing myself. Time to move on!

Glad it's not just me. I'm not bummed, really, although I was hoping to try some slip-on sneakers, but I didn't see many, and none that I was really interested in.

I made returns, so I actually left the mall with more money than I entered with!

Yes, DVF is inconsistent.
I'm in the same boat. Zara has open in Seattle for nearly a month, and I haven't even peeked in, though I've walked by it. My shoe person at Barneys showed me a whole slew of cool new fashion sneakers recently, and I was like, eh.

Well done Janet! Never fear something wonderful will come along! But I admire your restraint. DVF cut her Zarita dress really small too. I am usually a 4 and am deciding between the 6 and the 8 (which I think is probably too big and would need altering). But I tried on another DVF dress in a 4 and it was huge. Her sizing is so inconsistent!! Very frustrating.

And I have to say I am thoroughly unimpressed with the spring offerings I'm seeing. Nothing in the stores is interesting me, except for the cute DVF dress that was cut so small, I'm not even sure a size 12 would have worked, and I'm normally a 6/8 in dresses. (Way to alienate your customers, DVF.)

On the bright side, my credit cards are taking a lengthy breather.
