Hi Angie!
I tried 2 R and 4P. It runs super slim through mid- low torso which normally is good for me but this was too much. I would next have to try a size up in R and maybe P. It fits a little funny in the back waist, and I can't tell if that is a sizing issue or a style problem. Hmmmm. I was not totally put off by black color because of how I would be wearing with "mitigating other items" but not sure how many orders to place. Drat AT shipping which sure, is not a deal- breaker when something works well, but puts a damper on experimentation.

Hi Meredith!
Well, that's just it. I haven't ordered it because I don' think I have enough target outfits/occasions for this clutch, because I don't use much bright red anymore and am also trying not to have a lot of black dress outfits. My tendency is toward more subdued reds even for a color pop. So I could use if for the occasional black outfit but it might languish otherwise.
I had the perfect color BCBG burgundy snake clutch, but it was in a very flat, stiff envelope style that looked great but held nothing comfortably ( wouldn't close over keys, etc) so I consigned it in a fit of frustration! Now I feel im looking for its more functional twin.
I packed up all the above for return( including a scarf that was " only $18"),
except for the pencil skirt. Trying to stay in tune with Angie-directions for how feeling when trying on/ wearing.

Interesting read! I saw the red clutch in-store last week and it is beautiful. If you bought it what colors would you wear when using it?

Dottie, I love that dress! Worried thd neckline may be too scooped but might try anyway.
DonnaF , I think so, on some knits at least. That ponte top has killer tight sleeves in M !
Debbie, I'll take another look at my tryon and see if next size would be sized out at the shoulder.
Suz, Happy New Year! I'm glad I tried the skirt. It's a rayon- poly blend but more " lofty" than expected. It's a bummer no AT store any more because I used to be able to truly " shop" and browse/no buy which was pleasant and no commitment/hassle. Know I should count myself lucky for the amount of " real" browsing options I do have.

I love many of Ann Taylor's items too. The dress reminds me of some from Land's End that I've been happy with. Here is one example, but there are a variety of solid and prints from which to choose. As with DonnaF, the Halogen brand has worked for me too.

Looks as if you got yourself a couple of nice items. Online shopping is full of returns, though -- try not to be discouraged. Too bad about the dress -- it is lovely.

Thanks for the review. Do AT sleeves typically run narrow? This (and sometimes shoulders too wide) tends to be my greatest a fit issue. FWIW Nordstrom in-house brands like Halogen and Caslon tend to work for me.

I love the dress. If I were you I try the dress in another size. Maybe it could be altered. I have the same problem with bracelets. A lot of them are too wide. Love all of your picks.

Happy New Year!
This is actually "shopping" but I'm calling it "Inspiration" because it is part of my learning curve about what works, what not to get caught up in, and "the courage to return".
Was risky to be shopping at same time need more culling, but there you go. I've had to put aside some skirts and pants due to fit issues. AT skirts (and some Talbots) are still my best fits and yet each skirt is a little different and needs to be tried to see if it's got the perfect fit, so I do check what's new in fabrics and colors .

Also, it's not one "haul," but due to AT shipping issues, I sometimes hold on to something a week or so and get a new order and send back together, plus I have the new problem of no B&M AT and no ability to check out sizes, so I have been ordering R and P or 2 sizes or sometimes both.
#1 and 2-3: when working on "cocktail capsule" I tried this bracelet due to good reviews and maybe fitting narrow wrist. I think it is fun, but turns out to be "too much" for my arm. I would need narrower amount of sparkle. The clutch I was waffling about and have targeted for return. I got the black as a versatile clutch. I really like its roominess--holds all my stuff and still looks not stuffed. But it doesn't wow me. Those who like cobalt and red might do better since those can be hard to find. I was looking for a red evening clutch, but would prefer a deeper, cooler color. Still I wonder if I should try it in this red.
#4: I have tried this ponte top in 3 colors and 4 sizes, hoping to get a hit. It's the type of "structured knit" with some waist taper and then hip-skimming fit that could look very refined if it would just fit me. Sort of like a peplum but without the issues of poof and precise waistline location. Great neckline. Arms are tight, shoulders are wide. Petite M is closest and still looks not quite right in shoulder area. . Was sold out in the burgundy. The new dot print is fabulous--a dark gray with a black dot. If fit I would hem the sleeves just a bit. Arrgghh.
#5 Dress--loved the photo so tried even though black. Soooo close--the style is perfect but the fit is off. Petite is best;there is enough length. So slim-fitting through bodice but again, with a wide shoulder and upper chest so not sure can size up (4P too tight). Arms tight. I am not the AT target for dresses! Struggling with whether to try another size, but probably no go.
#6. The winner ! Love this skirt. Tried 2 sizes but my usual size fit. Fits more skimming than a couple of skirts that are no bueno now. Not wool, but a substantial fabric. Goes with lots of tops. Dark navy, looks almost black (good for me), and in winter I think I can wear black tights; could try gray (ink of course if find a close match). Has that trans-seasonal potential. Will do some tryons.

Anyway, this might help someone else!
