Hi April-

I would give a BIG thumbs up to the treatment. It won't take all the body out of your hair (which is great if you loathe stick-straight hair like I do), but it will make it a LOT more manageable and silky. That said, there are health risks involved (ALL of the formulations contain formaldehyde or a derivative thereof, no matter what anyone says) and it should be done with a mask and a fan in front of a window if at all possible. If you can blow dry and flat iron your hair, there is no reason at all that you can't do it at home for ~$50 or so rather than the $300 and up that most salons are asking. I've done it to myself 3 times, and will do a 4th time next month. If you go to makeupalley.com and search the boards for "BKT" you'll find pages and pages of information from ladies who do it themselves. I'd be happy to answer any questions, so just let me know!

Thanks Tarzy!! FAB

April, It is a large investment for a short term solution...worth it for some, for others not so much.:)

That is very helpful, Taylor. Thank you. The Mom in Red High Heels has a fairly tame curl to her hair in its natural state -- I wonder how this works on curlier hair?

I should probably not bother investigating since I am not ever likely to be able to spend that amount of money on a hair treatment...

Thanks, Taylor. Very interesting! I've been hearing a lot about the Keratin treatment lately.

Here's another really interesting post from Whoorl (who writes Hair Thursday, a pretty good resource for hair-related info.)

I have straight hair but it gets puffy with lots of fly-aways... would this treatment help me? And, how does it differ from a Brazilian keratin blowout, please?

Thanks.

I'm curious about this, too. I've finally learned to embrace my natural curls, but would like to eliminate the frizz.

Hi April, I'm not Taylor or Renata but have had a Global Keratin Treatment in my (wavy and frizzy) hair. This is the australian website http://www.globalkeratin.com.au/

It's been 4 months and my hair is just starting to become less easy to style. It's been worth it for me (cost me $250 AUD).

My new stylist recommended this to me, saying it would relax my curl some but would not totally straighten my hair, and would completely eliminate frizz.

Just so you know, I put about as much faith in the phrase "eliminates frizz" as I do in "one size fits all." :)

Any thoughts? My hair is mostly S-curls, with a tighter spring-coil just behind my ears.
