Don't be sorry Tam, I guess we'll let you work!!

Ok, that makes sense, a 10 would probably be the way to go then. I'm a pear and quite narrow in the rib cage and back but not in the but!! So i would probably go 8 or 10 in tops and 10 or 12 in bottoms. But that dress isn't fitted so 10 should be ok.

Hi An, just got home from work sorry!! I'm *usually* an Aussie 12 too (sometimes a 14 on top because I have a very broad ribcage/back, not because of my boobs that's for sure!! Similarly in US sizes I am usually a 10 (sometimes a 12 for stores that run small like H&M). What body shape are you - do you tend to be a bit bigger top/bottom or are you a nice even hourglass?

That's a cute dress you are eyeing! Quite floaty some hopefully there's some room for error with sizes. I'd try a 10 if it were me. What do you think?

Thanks Tara and Maya. I just need a body double in the US to try things on for me!!

Tam, are you around tonight? I wonder what size US you buy compared to Aus sizes?

I'm looking at this dress:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....EMRPmtzrHw

and these shorts:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....F7tRx6hp4Q

On second thoughts I think the shorts might be a bit risky but the dress should be fairly easy to get the right size (maybe?).

Thanks guys

If Aussie sizing is anything like UK sizing, which I am guessing it is based on my experience, I think an Aussie 12 would be a US 8. But nothing is ever certain with sizing. Take into account how fitted the garment is, how stretchy it is, and what the reviews (if any) say. You may end up being a 6 or 10 if the garment runs large or small. If something is fitted where you are largest (like if you have pearish hips), you might also need to size up.

I don't advise going by the size chart though. I think according to Nordstrom's size chart, I am supposed to be an 8, and I have never even come close to being an 8 in my entire life. No idea where those numbers come from!

I know even after conversion, US sizes generally run large compared to Euro sizes, but I do not know how they compare to Aussie sizes. In other words, as a US size 2 I am supposed to be a Euro size 32, but in reality I am more like a 34 or 36. I don't think I could get a 32 past my knees. But conventional sizing conversions don't quite work because Euro clothes are cut slimmer. I guess Tam can tell you if Aussie and US clothes are cut similarly or not.

I'm not certain of how helpful that was..

From what I understand, an Aussie size 12 is about a US size 8. I'm an Aussie 10, and it's a US size 6. But they do have petites and regulars as well, and from what I understand different brands and cuts often don't run "true to size". Angie's probably best to ask - why don't you post in the "Ask Angie" section?

Hi Tam,
I've got some Nordstrom items in my shopping basket and I just need some help with US sizing. (I've only bought S/M/L type sizing before). Is the sizing the same as Oz sizing or different. E.g. I would usually take a size 12 here, what would I need to order?
Thanks so much. An
