Sorry Greg, we crossed I think. I am totally computer illiterate, and don't even know how to get a run prompt except when I'm downloading something (yes, I honestly am that dumb where computers are concerned!!), but it's 18.15 here in France, and my nerdy husband should be back within the hour. Sorry to keep you hanging fire, but I'll have him do it asap.

Okay! Transcona Shannon has a thread 'bizarre leather jacket update' or words to that effect. I can read her post, but although the page clearly states there are 14 replies from 13 members, I can't read any of them. The same thing happened several times yesterday. I could read the subject of the thread, and the original post, but couldn't scroll down to the answers. My hard disk was labouring away, and the status bar was telling me it was waiting for You Look Fab, the loading icon was turning for about 10 minutes, then I got a message that the page-load had timed-out, and asked me if I wanted to retry. I clicked that, but the whole convoluted process has just repeated itself.

If it helps you narrow down at all, the site loaded fine for me and my Mac. I was using Google Chrome from about 7-8 this morning.

La Francaise, for Windows you can get the diagnostic info I need by opening a command line window (by typing 'cmd' at the run prompt) and then at the command line, typing:

tracert youlookfab.com > info.txt

That will create a file, "info.txt" with the info I need. If you put that file into an email message to feedback@youlookfab.com I can see where the holdup is happening.

Thanks very much.

Thanks Greg! For me, it may be partially due to my wonky Mi-Fi connection. Will let you know the next time it's an issue:)

If you are using a Mac and you are seeing slowness, then there is one way you can help me to diagnose the problem. Open a terminal window and type...

traceroute youlookfab.com

...at the prompt. If you can then copy the output from that into an email message and send it to feedback@youlookfab.com that would be super helpful.

Thank you.

Thanks Anna. I'm looking into it now.

Everyone else, please let us know on this thread (or in email) to feedback@youlookfab.com if you are seeing the same thing. We're not seeing the slowdown and knowing who is affected might help me to narrow it down.

Beth, would you please send me email or a private message the next time (or any time) you see the slowness? Even if it is a very brief message that says "slow right now" or something. I will try to map that to other factors to find the source of the problem.

Anna and Beth, I've had the same problem for the past 24 hours. There are some parts of the site I simply CANNOT load at all, while others are incredibly slow, 5-10 minutes. Any longer and Firefox gives me a "timed-out" message.

I'm using a PC, and have the latest version of Firefox browser installed. I also have a very fast 20Mbps wi-fi connection. I think the problem has to be with the site, rather than with our computers.

Anna, does it not load at all or is it just very slow?

I frequently have issues with YLF loading extremely slowly and I have to refresh several times to get it to come up. I'm also on a Mac, but using Safari 5.1.3
