I've noticed this as well, and I'm also using Firefox, but on a PC. I concluded it has something to do with ads loading, because I'm noticing it on other ad-heavy sites and not on ad-free sites. I eventually wind up getting a crash notice, and a suggestion to upgrade a plug in which my IT department won't let be upgrade for security reasons.

Hope that helps, Greg. I am not deterred. Obviously.

Thanks Gaylene. Our server never slows down to this extent because of load (it is larger than it needs to be), so there is something different at the root of this.

When you have experienced these slowdowns have you ever tried to access the site using Safari instead?

What would be super helpful is if you could note the time when next you experience a very slow page load. Then PM me and let me know. I'll go into the server logs and see what happened.

Finally, if you are comfortable using the Terminal application, you could open that and type run "traceroute youlookfab.com" at the command line. The output of that command will tell us if there are network problems between you and our server. If you do manage to get that output you can just copy/paste it into a PM.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

The loading issue seemed to start a month or so ago-- and it is intermittent. The home page loads quickly, but the stalling occurs when I click on the Forum or on the "read more" option for the blog. It also occurs when I try to access a Forum post directly from the home page. The page can take up to a couple of minutes to load, which, as you know, can seem like an eternity when you are staring at a spinning wheel. Occasionally, it has timed out.

I've been putting it down to a busy server because if I leave the website for 10-15 minutes, then I can usually connect without any problems. But it is occurring almost once or twice a day now. If it helps, I can start logging the times when it seems to be happening in the next week or so?

I'm not having any problems with any other websites, just YLF. And I am from Canada, if that makes a difference. And I do have my Firefox privacy settings set to accept cookies, but not to allow tracking or history.

Thanks for bringing this up.

We are not seeing this so I am keen to know whether anyone else is experiencing slow load times.

Gaylene, could you please let me know which specific pages are particularly bad? I would also like to know when this started happening. Then I can compare that to changes we have made on the site.

Is anyone else experiencing a problem with loading parts of the YLF website? While the home page usually loads quite quickly, clicking on other areas sometimes takes a considerable time to download on my computer. That spinning circle goes on for at least a minute or two-- or until I get bored and click Stop Loading.

The problem is intermittent, but is starting to happen often enough to begin to be annoying. I don't seem to have a problem when I visit other websites, just YLF. I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.8 and Firefox 15.0.1.
