April, I really hope they work for you. They probably will. They just needed to be a tiny bit shorter for me. I'm wondering now if I should have tried taking them to a cobbler to see if they could be shortened. I wish I knew a reliable cobbler.

I ordered the gray ones, though having read Joy's review, I'm not sure the height will work. "Long legs" is not a phrase that has ever been used to describe me. :)

We shall see...

Wow!

I'm in the skinny calves/long leg club and think I may just HAVE to have these.
Love the versatile color.

The Dorados would be a beautiful boot for someone with long legs for whom most riding boots are too short. It's not as distressed looking in r/l and doesn't scream "cowboy boot"

I don't have these boots, but I have a 12.5 calf and a pair of Fryes (the Janes, but not the tall ones) that gap at the top - the concensus here was that in a cowboy boot it looks fine. Also, I'm wearing them today and realized that since they pull on, it would be near impossible to get them on with jeans tucked in if there wasn't that bit of room at the top!

April, if it helps any, the largest part of my calf measures 12.5 inches. The part of the leg just under the knee where the top of the boot shaft comes is 12". The inside of the top of the shaft on a pair of size 8's is 15" The boot shaft is 18" from the floor and 17" from the heel for the size 8. On my leg without shoes, 17" ends at the lower kneecap and 18" at mid knee.

Laura, I ordered these same boots in the grey recently and thought they were ok on my narrow calves. They were a bit wide and easy to pull on, but not so much gap that I didn't think they could be worn with skirts, as Laura says, the RATE look. Definitely wide enough to tuck in jeans.
My problem was that they were too high in the shaft and pushed against the bottom of my kneecap when I walked. The ones I got were nice leather but not soft enough to slouch. When i tried, they popped right back up. If I thought they would slouch, I would have kept them. Also, I bought the larger of the two sizes I usually wear and they were plenty big.

Great! And I just noticed that the title of your thread said "narrow" calf. That sounds much more appealing -- I shouldn't just jump in and call it "skinny," should I? Got to stay positive

Skinny calf support group member here!

For me, I wouldn't worry about this boot and would order it with confidence. Anything that slouches can work. Also, I always wear my Fryes loose, if that makes sense. I don't think they need to be fitted to the calf. It's the RATE look, right?

The description says the shaft is soft enough to slouch. Has anyone tried these on: http://www.6pm.com/frye-dorado-low-stone-leather and can you tell me if they'll work on a skinny calf?
