Hi Hilary, I used to be a Nordies stylist, and it's great to hear you will be working with one! My main suggestion would be to be very clear about whatever kind of budget you'd like to work with and/or your favorite types of brands. The other suggestion would be to try to scope out a couple different stores (if you have not already). Some stores may carry more designer pieces, while others may carry a larger variety of trendy things (some stores don't have Topshop, for example, but have lots of Armani). Your Pinterest is very communicative, and I would also send that to your stylist before the appointment. I hope you have a fun time!

From what I know about the service, it can be a fun process. The stylist will probably take you out of your style comfort zone, which is always a good thing. That way your mind is opened to many more possibilities.

The downside though, is that you have to buy the merchandise from one place because the stylist works for Nordstrom. That said, it's definitely worth the experience. Why not. xo

I recently discovered YLF and LOVE it.

My resolution for 2015 is to INVEST in myself. This cuts across all areas of my life: health, work, professional development, relationships; it certainly pertains to "my look"-- both wardrobe and beauty. I am planning to working with an in-house stylist at Nordstrom and am wondering what advice you'd give going into this situation.

A few additional details: I am single, 41, no children; I moved from Washington, DC to Dallas, Texas a little over a year ago. I now work mostly from home. I am working to UPDATE my wardrobe and look to a new climate (Texas is hotter and summer lasts a LONG time); a different work environment, and different culture (DC is very conservative and serious; Dallas is more casual and there is a lot more bling). I think I know what I like and don't like but don't feel like I've thought it out to a cohesive look, which I would like to do more. I have created a Pintrest board to help me think (http://www.pinterest.com/ahdawson/what-to-wear/z0

Thanks for any words of wisdom.

Hilary
