I've been wondering about this, too! I ended up keeping the cream-colored tote bag that I posted ages ago, although I have yet to use it, but I keep looking for a bag that is more pure white because I just can't seem to reconcile in my mind an outfit that is based on pure white with a cream bag. I'll have to try "bed dressing" my emerging conference capsule and see how it actually looks.
I plan to try white-on-white soon! But not today, when it is so freakin' COLD outside in the so-called Deep South...
This is all wonderful feedback! I did go have a look at my whites, and realized that what I have is mostly red (pink)-based, with a couple of yellow (ivory)-based pieces, and one blue-based white blouse (a vintage Anne Fontaine that I LOVE, thank you Angie, for pointing me in that direction). So now I do have somewhere to go with this!

Thank you thank you thank you everyone!
I think it might be a question of getting used to the look ON YOU.

I'd start off my matching shades of white with taupe or dove grey in one outfit. That should dip your toes into the look before you dive head first :)

I expect Angie will chime in later; but I would guess that maybe you have to look at the underlying tone of the white; does it seem warm or cool / I would imagine a cool grey-toned white would look dirty perhaps with a warm toned one. I could be wrong but thats my take on it. I have yet to mix whites together myself but will definitely be trying it.

Try putting them on a pure white background so you can see the undertone. Some will be "yellow", some "blue", and some "red". I find if you put the same undertones together it works out ok.
I love the white trend! but I notice when I look at white pieces together in my closet, some of the pieces look dingy or just-not-right against other pieces. I realize if I put the same exact shades of white together, I'll look like a nurse, or like I'm coming with a straitjacket for someone....

but do you have any suggestions in how to identify complementary shades of white? When I look at your Pinterest board, I love those looks, but I can't seem to manage to put those complementary hues together.
