I'd suggest using this trip as an opportunity to get some clothing items that you might wear again in your general life. For example, look for tops that you could wear with a nice pair of jeans for a date night.

Or look for a jacket / blazer that you could also wear with a graphic t-shirt and jeans, if you wanted to.

Since you're going to have to buy clothes, you might as well use the chance to shop for some stuff you like and would want to wear again.

I support the idea of asking the coordinator! I also support the idea of light neutrals for Costa Rica. At first guess, I'd say a pair of white, cream, or khaki knit pants in a flattering cut (wide-leg or skinny), comfortable dressy flats or wedges (if you do a wide leg cut, make sure to hem them so the skim the floor when you're wearing whatever shoes). then I'd do some layers and include some bright colors. Keep it simple with just a pant, blouse and cardigan or jacket. You really can't go wrong.

ETA, I've personally had my eye on this white trouser, not sure if it would work for you (are you in the US? What size range do you need, and would the cut suit your frame?)

Janice--I'm a questioner, I'd contact the training coordinator and ask what the dress code is. It's been my experience thst large companies have general guidelines for these kinds of things, esp when they are bringing in people from different locations. I'd react out to colleagues who've been to this training, or are going with you, and ask what they wore, or were planning on wearing.

I suspect that the light is different in Costa Rica and that black will be too dark. How about white or another light neutral?

Thanks for your responses!
I work as a Lease Administrator for a huge financial institution and have not been to any of the corporate offices before (there are many located world wide). The trip will be for 4 days with the last day consisting of a half day of training and then departing. I believe the only events will be dinners.
I don't want to buy suites because I won't wear them again before they go out of style. My first inclination is black slacks and skirt with tops and sweaters but wonder if black would be too heavy for such a warm climate.
I would like to purchase as few items as possible as they will probably only be worn once.

I attended a week long conference in Washington DC. I thought I could pull off a more casual wardrobe, I was wrong. Overdress. Do not underdress. Wearing outfits on repeat is fine ... as long as you are sufficiently professional.

I echo the questions that have been asked. Also, if you're training in a/c you'll need to bring toppers to stay warm.

to add to Ummlila's great questions:
1. how long is the trip?
2. Other than sitting in training sessions, will you have any other events on the trip (such as social events)?

I work at home full time but my employer is sending me to the corporate office in Costa Rica in April for training. My wardrobe consists of jeans and t-shirts (sorry Angie!)

I need to buy clothes for my training trip but have no idea what to wear?

Please help!
