Thank you Lucy, jmwolf, and Angie!! So grateful for the advice. I will not wear the necklace, I’ll schedule a session with a makeup artist, and I’ll keep my eye out for a high v neck top. YLF is a unique oasis of support and kindness in the internet, and I appreciate it so much. Thank you!

Aloha Emily, I would drop the necklace, and the rest sounds GREAT. Solid colour is always good on camera - and statement jewelery is effective. May I suggest having your make-up done professionally. Getting that part right for the camera more important than you think.

Keep the earrings, the lip, and the bright color of your top! To create a v-neck that will really show up, though, I'd look for a top that creates a contrast with your skin and actually creates a V with the neckline itself. A thin necklace is unlikely to show on film and you won't get the same V effect. And yes to Lucy's advice re: small patterns. They either don't show or they end up looking muddy or fuzzy.

Also, IME, practice is so helpful! If you get a chance to practice filming in the outfit and styling of choice you can see how it appears and make adjustments. Plus, you can see how YOU appear and whether you want to make any small changes to your presentation (e.g., more/less hand movement, different facial expressions, etc.)

On of the main things with filming is to avoid small patterns - they can become very distracting and distorted. Also if you can check where they want to put the microphone - that can make a difference to your clothes .
I'm not sure about the necklace and earrings but if the earrings are part of your signature style i would keep them

This spring I will be filming a few short clips to market my small business. I’ll wear bold lipstick, because I teach English and students need to see my mouth very clearly. I’d like to wear large hoop earrings, because they are my very favorite accessories in the world. I’m wearing a jewel tone crew neck knit shirt and I would like to wear a locket or pendant style necklace to create a v-shape. That seems like a lot- bold lipstick, big earrings, jewel tone shirt and necklace. Is there a way to make it all work? If not, what should I drop- the earrings or the necklace?
