Pinkham hats rock! Dayna has reblocked two of my custom hats for me, and I want one of hers. But they're investments (I'm looking at a gorgeous $325 felt turban), and I'd only buy them in person.

On the other hand, Portland's multiple off-the-rack and semi-custom millinery boutiques have decent offerings from about $30 and $100. YMMV

I'm reading with interest. I have a small head and have a hard time finding hats. I've purchased custom made from etsy before ranging $100-250.

I have a big ol noggin. 7 3/8 hat size
I spend bank when I find one that fits. Rag & Bone size large fit, but now I realize the quality doesn't match price.
It's really hard to find good hats. I have a Lola I bought at Bergdorf Goodman's in NYC. The salesperson & I went through many of the exact same hat as there were small but perceptible variations. I think that was $300 ish. If it's wool felt some stretching can be done by a real hat store.
I have a real problem with Eugenia Kim & Eric Javits who only make hats, but only one size.
I prefer in person, because fit is so, so specific.

ETA this place was recommended by a Portland forum member, but I haven't ordered from them

Thanks.

I'm trying to gauge the prices here: http://maggiemowbraymillinery.co.uk

I was sent a link to a Canadian millinery with a $150-200 range, but found the hats too basic and dowdy for my tastes.

My head is too small for standard sizes. My hats are usually around $100-150.

What is a reasonable budget for a stylish hat from a millinery if you have have a non-standard sized head (i.e. too big), and can't wear department store hats?
